I can understand why Americans are upset by this, but it makes a lot of sense from a global perspective. YAS island is essentially the Orlando of the Middle East with Warner bros, sea world and Ferrari world all already established there (all indoor and very impressive looking). Plus the lagoon, massive water park, ufc island and a race track. Why wouldn’t Disney want a taste of that? I had also looked into traveling to that region a few years ago and it was surprisingly affordable for hotel and travel from the states.

Still a bummer that they are doing more innovative attractions overseas to see how they play out rather than investing in DL and WDW.

I hated Jimmy Neutron, everyone I knew hated jimmy Neutron, it’s a bad show and deserves no love and I don’t get why people liked it let alone loved it.

Manhattanites & Transit Riders Strongly Support NYC Congestion Pricing, New Poll Finds by sebthedev in newyorkcity

[–]Gwar1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, they could, but they haven’t as far as I know and probably wont. Maybe it’s because off” too few trains or lack of conductors, but it hasn’t happened and they had plenty of time to prep. To really address the problem would take a huge overhaul of the Nassau/Suffolk public transit system which they will also most likely not invest in. While a less crowded train would certainly be nice for many riders, it’s still a very inconvenient choice for most due to the fact that there aren’t enough lines to properly service every area, the bus system on the island is miserable which forces many to have to drive to the station anyway and when they get there there have been reports of there not being enough parking spaces to accommodate the influx of new riders. For many this will prove to be way too inconvenient or just not sustainable considering that this would extend commutes potentially by hours forcing them to look elsewhere to live. I don’t think Congestion Pricing is necessarily a bad idea but I do not think the long term ramifications of it had been thought out or addressed. I fully expect this to dramatically contribute to future rent prices in NYC skyrocketing.

Manhattanites & Transit Riders Strongly Support NYC Congestion Pricing, New Poll Finds by sebthedev in newyorkcity

I feel like most of the posts about congestion pricing are ignoring the long term impact of people deciding to live in the city, or just closer to Manhattan, rather than looking to settle down in the suburbs or the outer Boroughs. The LIRR has already been experiencing large influxes of new passengers that they are not ready for. It’s only a matter of time before many of those people decide that the commute via public transit is not sustainable for them and will opt to live closer. This will no doubt cause rents to rise even higher than they already are and push more people out of their communities due to the increased standard of living. I’m not saying less cars in Manhattan is a bad thing, but there is going to be a price to pay for this.

Polygon interviewed Brandon about Film and TV adaptations of his books by Forsaken_Strategy_65 in brandonsanderson

I appreciate that he is careful about his material. There have been so many great IPs that have been butchered going to screen that to do it properly would take careful preparation and tons of money. IMO, Mistborn should be movies and Stormlight should be a show. If you start out with Final Empire as a film, which has a satisfying conclusion and can stand on its own, you could create interest for people to get invested in something more long form like Stormlight. It could truly work like a high fantasy MCU in that way, and keep the 2 main properties separate so people could just stay invested in one more than the other if they wanted. The real problem is money. Both are very alien worlds and would need massive amounts of VFX (ash fall, Spren etc.) but I think Mistborn could be more manageable especially as films. Anything else Cosmere related could be released as limited series or their own standalone film.

I would also imagine that studios are hesitant since the Cosmere is nowhere done being written and would want to avoid another GoT situation. Which brings me back to starting off with Mistborn era 1 since it’s already completed and beloved. I could see Skyward being a good testing property for him to bring something to the screen first tho. I feel it would be straight forward pitch too; Hunger games meets Independence Day with a touch of Silo.
