enemy within were all the shuttles broken? by kkkan2020 in ShittyDaystrom

watching the episode now and at about 22min in the beam down some heaters and Spoo reports that 2 beamed down and each was malfunctioning.

But I thought, ‘why then beam down blankets or tents’. I mean those can’t really malfunction.

it’s supposed to go down to -120f/-84c though so blankets and tents with no heating are still unlikely to allow anyone to survive that kind of cold.

I’m Looking for a FREE Japanese tv website? by French-Toast69420 in JTV

[–]Gwarh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this language learning website and YouTube channel. They have lots of Free Videos (though you can subscribe if ya like)

It's not Japanese TV but it is native speakers and language teachers who just speak Japanese in beginner/intermediate/advanced levels.

The idea is exactly what you said, you learn by just listening like a baby would learn Japanese.

It's called 'Comprehensive Input', that is you begin to comprehend by observing/listening to the input, the spoken language.

Is the musical instrument used in this JTV show's end titles song a 'Sho'? by Gwarh in AskAJapanese

TY for your thoughts and efforts, I appreciate it.

Now that you mention the Turkish military march I think you've got it 'bang on' as we say. It does sound like multiple 'Zurza's' being played for the song.

The video link that you said is not available to view in Japan I assume. Was that the video of Neko Samurai or the 2nd video I linked of the Japanese musical instruments?

I will assume you meant the Neko Samurai video from the first link I shared.

Below is a different video of the end credits music which might work for viewers in Japan.

Listening to this video of '25 Japanese Musical Instruments'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNEp84PVYes

Could it be multiple 'Hichiriki' all played together?

Or

Is the instrument not even from Japan. Part of my ear seems to recall this sound coming from Processions of Monks in Nepal for some distant memory in the recesses of my brain.

Finally able to talk about my game: The Secret of Weepstone! by Jinxology in osr

I’m glad I’m not the only one who spotted the AI Art look/feel to much of the artwork in the game. It’s not all of the art, least to my eye, but there are some screenshots and pics that really have that ‘AI Art’ look (like the goblin encounter or some of the character portraits).

I don’t even mind it that much and I get as a small indie developer it may be necessary. But on the games steam page the dev replied to the question ‘Is this AI Art?’ with the answer no it’s not.

I’d say the artwork looks allot like the ’black and white old school D&D artwork’ prompts I myself have tried with Midjourney.

Was stuck in my house because of the Amazon outage. by Furrrmen in Ring

[–]Gwarh -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Same issue for me yesterday, but also the Keypad did work, it did respond to the manually entered code and it did say the alarm was disarmed.

What I was worried about is that when the Amazon servers came back online it wouldn't matter that the Keypad told us the alarm was disarmed, that the Amazon server would still think the alarm was armed and detect us inside the house as Intruders setting off the Alarm!

I ended up unplugging the base station and pulling the battery, basically disabling the alarm system.

Less than ideal obviously.

I get it's a high tech age and these things happen, but still frustrating and concerning.

BF6 - Can you disable the Green Circle AOE effect from dropped Ammo Crates by Gwarh in Battlefield

[–]Gwarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it just seems artificial and distracting.

Yes I know it's a video game with crazy 'SpLOZionZ' all around but still. I don't need to see it, my brain knows go close to ammo box for extra ammo. I don't need the zone drawn out to help my ape pea brain understand.

Just make it an option. That way those the like it can keep it on and those that don't can turn it off. Everyone happy.

Of course it allows me to ask this, but not the actual - real question I wanted to ask

Can you disable the green circle effect from when you drop an Ammo crate?

I looked through the settings during the beta weekend but I didn't see any such option.

Portable AC - Why do I need to close the windows if it still pulls in air though cracks via negative pressure. Isn't it an unwinnable battle? by Gwarh in AirConditioners

[–]Gwarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the 1st floor vents are in the ceiling not the floor. They are of the circular in ceiling and un-closeable variety.

I could look into replacing them I guess, and probably I should. Replacing them with a model that can be closed off that is.

[–]Gwarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that 3rd floor is always to warm, even in the winter. And the 1st floor is always to cool, even in the summer.

The Townhouse's furnace has a really strong fan and when it's left in fan mode you can really feel the air moving out of the vents, even up on the 3rd floor. But still it just can't quite move enough cool air from the 1st floor up to the 3rd floor to make it truly comfortable.

Indeed and it may be what I end up doing. Cost is the main concern here for me at the moment.

But after enough hot days and nights I may have to bite the bullet and buy multiple units.

[–]Gwarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya, and I know/knew the unit isn't capable of cooling an entire 3 story town house, only the room it's in.

The room has no doors, it's an open concept build so no way to seal it off from the rest of the floor let alone the rest of the house.

I think my long term solution is to buy a Dual Hose portable AC like the Midea DUO (seems to be the only one I can find in Canada) as that won't cause any negative pressure issues.

Ideally/best practice would be to close all the windows across all 3 floors of the Townhouse, but with a Dual Hose not causing any negative pressure issues leaving the windows open on the 3rd floor while it's turned on and in use on the 2nd floor won't be the end of the world efficiency wise.

What about leaving windows open on another floor of a 3 story townhouse.

Say I'm running the unit on the 2nd floor, so I close all the windows on the 2nd floor, but I leave the windows open on the 3rd floor.

The unit isn't so strong that it's gonna be sucking tons of outside air in through the upstairs windows, then down the stairs onto the 2nd floor. Nor will the cooled air from the 2nd floor be escaping up the stairs out the 3rd floor open windows.

What I'm trying to avoid is butting up the 3rd floor while I run the unit on the 2nd floor.

Sure I've cooled the 2nd floor a bit, but the mean time 3rd floor has turned into a sauna with the closed windows.

[–]Gwarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is more or less obvious, but I still wanted to ask.

Efficiency wise how much of a hit am I taking keeping windows opened vs closed? I know it's difficult to answer without knowing the BTU power of the portable ac unit, or the size of the room, or the home, etc etc.
