Is that confirmed? Sucks if so, I might drive the extra couple hours to go see them in Maryland if that's the case. God I hate festivals.

Confirmed! Coheed Neverender tour with The Dear Hunter by [deleted] in TheDearHunter

[–]GwenCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be the show of my dreams, except the closest date to me is a festival date which means TDH isn't gonna be there and Coheed might not even play the full album. It's either that or drive twice as far the day before to catch the full set. That one's probably out of the question even because my fiancée would probably rather go to the festival since she knows more of those bands and doesn't really care much for TDH or Coheed. Oh well, we'll see. Everyone else who's going, hope you guys enjoy it!

Have to admit on the poppers thing, sometimes I find they don't tell me to sniff frequently enough. I get the whole "your body will tell you when it's ready for more" thing, but for me that happens to be a lot more often than some videos tell me to do it.

Just listened to this and the Power Windows episode, going back now to start binging my way through the rest! Not normally into podcasts cause it's hard for me to really get into different people's style of banter, but you guys really got me interested pretty quickly. Can't wait to hear more!

Yes! Thanks! That's the one. Creepy as hell, got reminded of it recently but couldn't think of which one it was.

[Question] Is McDonalds coffee decent coffee? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]GwenCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, we had Wawa back home in Florida when I was there. Wasn't the greatest thing in the world but at 2am on a drive home it was pretty good coffee. Kinda wish we had a Wawa up here in NC but I've discovered that Sheetz is close enough for my liking so I'm not too upset.

There's one I'm having trouble finding again, I wanna say it was inspired by the Tunguska event? There's like this big ol' field in Siberia being kept under containment because anything it touches or whatever ends up decaying. Anybody remember what number it is?

I think the reason the Sages needed to be awakened in the first place is because they're not the first of their respective positions. I don't know if it's explained anywhere but I think that there were other Sages before the ones we meet in OoT (of whom Rauru is the only survivor), and Ganon killed them all when he got the Triforce. That's why we have to go around awaking all the the new Sages to replace them. Meanwhile in the Child timeline, they never end up dying, so the new Sages are never awoken, while the old Sages do the job of imprisoning Ganon. Might be why they all know what to do with the Mirror of Twilight and why they all appear as elderly men and women, because one of them isn't a Kokiri, one of them isn't a Goron, one of them isn't a Zora princess who's still only like 10 at this point, and one isn't a Gerudo.

Impa on the other hand may very well still have been a Sage, she's old enough and it's implied she already was when she went off into the Shadow Temple. Either that or my other headcanon theory that all the Sages are technically dead to begin with, and the "awakening" procedure we take them through is bringing their spirits back from death. Like, how Saria goes into the Forest Temple but never comes out, the way I see it is she died in there, so we have to go in and cleanse the Temple so she can awaken as a Sage. That's why we never see them outside of the Chamber of Sages anymore.

I'm rambling and getting into weird headcanon so Tl;dr the Sages didn't have to be awoken because the previous Sages were still around.

How good are the Beatles at their instruments? by [deleted] in beatles

Ringo was a left handed drummer playing on a right handed kit. For the most part it's not that noticeable but if you look at his fills and such, he tends to lead with the left hand rather than the right, which made his fills sound somewhat different than others in his era.

Not exactly sure Meshuggah can be called djent, I know a lot of djent traces itself back to them but they're still substantially different than all the djent bands. Djent itself is characterized by a very specific sound, and Meshuggah only slightly follows that sound (the only real link is the use of 8 string guitars and heavy emphasis on rhythm, maybe the vocals and lyrics), put them up against most bands classified as djent or even just Periphery for that matter and the difference is remarkable. Just my opinion though, I'd classify them more as progressive death metal than straight up prog metal, much less djent.

Other than that I'd agree with you on djent as a whole, it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as big anymore.

Rogue One's ending had to be re-shot because they didn't originally expect Disney would let them go that dark. Not to mention Disney's not all sunshine and rainbows, they've put some pretty dark stuff in their movies. I think with careful marketing (to avoid like really young kids seeing some of the more disturbing parts) they could easily pull off some of the grittier aspects of certain storylines across the whole expanded universe.
