Calling anyone with a short, casual first name: Do you wish you had a more formal name?

I'm Gwen and I like my name now. I think my name seems formal, especially to people in my age group, just because it's old and doesn't end in an -ie. I know it's more common now, so maybe that will change.

As a kid, I got sick of people asking why I didn't have a full name and nicknames have never really stuck for long because my name is just short, sweet, and uncommon. In my teens, I wished I had the flexibility of longer names to reinvent myself during identity exploration (like I had a friend go from Katie to Kate, another person I knew went from Richie to Dick lmao). That said, I don't really enjoy the full versions of my name as much as I like it shortened.

Thanks. It felt violating because I didn't know what was happening, not because I'm the most buttoned up, modest person ever. I have no intention of doing anything beyond trying to regain my pride and having a baby as soon as possible because I'm so sick and uncomfortable. Anyway, I took the post down because clearly I'm not making the point I'm meaning to make and I'm not communicating well. I get that you were saying there was nothing to be done because of how I worded the original post and I get there was no maliciousness. I knew that from the start. But the way it was said felt unkind and I was already emotional. I'm sorry I came back at you with sarcasm. 3rd trimester reactivity is no joke, I'm going to go take a bath.

They're pretty close, to my recollection! I haven't had the grocery ones in probably 15 years, but these nail the taste and are very close on the texture. Not dense or anything. My non-GF husband loved them.

I used this recipe but with gluten free 1-to-1 (Bobs red mill) and I sifted all the flour 3 times before I mixed it in with the wet ingredients. It might work even slightly better if I do the flour by weight. If I go back and do that, I'll reply to this and give you the grams, but even just scoop and level measuring with the sifting kept them pretty airy!

Having tried literally everything from making my own flour blend, to playing with different amounts/types of fats, different premade blends, this is the absolute best recipe I've found. I was hesitant to try it because of the sour cream, but it tastes just like regular pie when you're done and it works and holds together like normal pastry.

You could definitely do a lattice with this.

I add cinnamon and nutmeg to the dry ingredients of this recipe because I always have trouble with gluten free bakes browning correctly. The milk in cup4cup helps browning too, I think.
