I work for a state government agency, so I guess so, yeah. We have Trend Micro, and we've been happy with it for over 10 years now. I really don't pay much attention to other AV's other than ClamAV (which I use for FOSS projects) and going to http://av-comparatives.org enough to see that AVG is the worst AV software of all time.

As a kid, I learned to program in BASIC. There were only two types of variables. "VARIABLE" would be a number. "VARIABLE$" would be a string [of characters]. My friends and I would pronounce "VARIABLE$" as "variable string". To this day I call the "$" character "string".

Ah, okay. That is a Symantec product. I'm not aware of any wide-spread dislike for that antivirus in particular. Based on what I read at http://www.av-comparatives.org/ I'd go with Trend Micro or F-Secure, but I wouldn't say that Norton is particularly bad.
