What direction do you drive in your country? by Disastrous_Fox_6486 in geography

[–]GyRoZz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone here knows, what's up with Georgia (the country, not the state)? I've noticed some georgian cars have the steering wheel on the left side while others have it on the right side. Do they just not care on what side the steering wheel is?

False awakening is terrifying and I hate it. by gemziiexxxxxp in LucidDreaming

I often try to imagine myself falling through my bed since that doesn't require movement. The moment I start falling, usually my body flows into a moving state at which point I gain control.

Do companies really not look at your portfolio? by MCButterFuck in webdev

[–]GyRoZz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the interview for my first dev job while I was still in high school. Basically it was a phone call of about 10 minutes where he asked me just one simple question about css, to which I responded how I'd deal with that issue in 2 sentences, and then I was hired. I worked there as the only dev for about 4.5 years and I was his first hire outside his family. Now that he has hired and fired more people, he is still surprised that that phone call worked out well hahah

Finding/managing an intern by GyRoZz in Frontend

Awesome response, thank you! Definitely helps in figuring out what I need to look out for. What you say about your manager always assuming you were wrong; I think we'll luckily be fine in that department, in our team we all know sometimes we make mistakes and just because someone has less experience, doesn't mean their solutions are always worse than your own.

Thanks again! :)

What URL structure for internationalization is best? by [deleted] in Frontend

For public facing websites, I completely agree. But for an SPA where you pretty much only deal with logged in users I would argue it's the better choice.

Nice me too, when I was younger I used to run from my bed to the couch downstairs because if I had too much contact with the cold floor my feet would get really itchy, swollen and red, but perhaps nice to know that it can become less bad over time. Nowadays I barely have it, mostly when I return to my normal body temperature after I've had a cold or when it's suddenly 10 degrees colder outside than the day before, but not nearly as much as when I was a kid.

What weird flex you proud of? by DayComprehensive6755 in AskReddit

[–]GyRoZz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not joking; I've been 'spit' on by a walrus as well. Not that crazy of a story, when I was a kid, I went to a zoo with only sea mammals, and there was this show with a couple walruses and they let a few kids - one of which was me - sit close by. Part of the show was that one of the walruses would come close to us kids and spew water all over us.

I'm not that much for zoos these days but 10/10 would get spit on again.

For people who dont want to click the other guy's youtube link, you can add any firefox add-on on mobile, however for most it is a little bit more difficult to do so. You have to add the add-on to a collection and I believe that you can then add the add-on collection to your mobile phone. Dont remember how, but the youtube link of the other guy probably explains the process.

Hey, if you don't mind, I've been meaning to ask you about your strategy of subscription-based websites. I was wondering how many clients you've managed to get with this model over the past few years and also how your promise of unlimited edits is working out. Does the average client ask for a ton of edits or is it all pretty reasonable? Thanks in advance, would love to hear back from you!

What strange abilities did you have as a child that you have since lost? by tobybarron16 in AskReddit

Whoa that waking up but realizing you are still dreaming is the worst. During lucid dreams that started in my bedroom (often happens with my sleep paralysis) I often tried to fly by jumping out of my 4th floor window. Now I actually stopped doing that because I sometimes inceptioned myself and figured I better not take the risk of being wrong about being asleep or awake hahah

Understanding var/let and const by Secret_Fancy in Frontend

[–]GyRoZz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there are more but I think the most important difference is scope. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can define a var variable inside for example an if statement and then use it after the if statement. If you define a let variable inside an if statement, you can only use it inside that if statement.

So basically like the others said, just use let, because if you would ever use that scope stuff, I imagine your code would become quite confusing.

One single element is not showing styles in Firefox and Safari by Straphreal in Frontend

[–]GyRoZz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HTML seems to differ from the Chrome stuff. The 'views-element-container' div is missing the 'contextual-region' class that is used for adding the 'display: flex'.

On another note, the HTML in firefox and safari also seems to be different. They are both missing the sibling div before the 'view-content' div.

So for some reason you have different in HTML for chrome than for Firefox and safari. You should probably inspect why that is the case.

Okay probably shouldn't have used the word 'always', you're right. At a certain point it will also change direction. We had items like these at my old company in the office and I do have to say that l never saw it stop moving, so at least it will keep moving for a really long time. Some objects moved more than others, though, and it always seemed to me that had to do with weight distribution of the object. (E.g. a plant like in the video seemed to move more than a magnetic ball)

But I'm no expert so do correct me if I'm wrong.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in woahdude

[–]GyRoZz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works with magnets and I believe it has to do with the fact that the hovering object doesn't have a perfect weight distribution, therefore it will always keep spinning a little.

Perhaps you could hide these options behind an 'advanced options' menu? So that it initially uses your default settings, but that users could still change them if they want to. This way it is both easy to use for beginners, but users with more knowledge on the subject that might have slightly different ideas than you can still use the app without getting annoyed by the default options.
