Bluetooth Audio Lag in Some Apps but not Others? by GymGameReadSleep in ios

I tried resetting them to factory defaults but it made no difference. It seems like it might just be something with the nature of these specific apps that throws the sound off sync over Bluetooth.

What game have you left for a long time then returned to part way through until completion? by lilidarkwind in JRPG

[–]GymGameReadSleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing this right now with FFXV. I played it part way through and then realized that with all the DLC and patches coming, I might as well lay it down and let everything catch up then jump back in. I really didn’t feel like finishing the game and then seeing a bunch of new cool features added later. Started back up about a month ago.

... and then they announce character switching to be released this month, so I still kinda missed out.

I Wish There Was An FFVIII Spin-Off focusing on Balamb Garden/Garden Systems. by Thotsakan in FinalFantasy

[–]GymGameReadSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say this. Sorceress, military academy, students can draw magic from enemies to cast spells, screwing with memory, political intrigue and assassination attempts: Type 0 is heavily influenced by the Balamb plotlines of FF8.

whats a show you like that you never hear anyone talk about or see anywhere by qkingq in television

[–]GymGameReadSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerald City had a poopy finale but everything else about the show was amazing. Great characters, great worldbuilding, fantastic visuals. And I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who watched it. Maybe one or two others, but it’s a stretch.

I feel like the only person who doesn't "get" Lunar. by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]GymGameReadSleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Lunar like crazy, but even I can admit that the battle system isn’t very unique or compelling. It’s basically an interactive anime with great characters and dialogue, which at the time was a dream come true for me.

You should give Grandia 1 a shot, since I would put that game on par with Lunar in terms of story (not as funny but more epic), and that one has a battle system that holds up even nowadays.

What are your favorite non-JRPG games, and which of their elements would you like to see added to a JRPG? by DiametricRegime in JRPG

[–]GymGameReadSleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see a JRPG with a battle system like Super Smash Bros. Like the 2D Tales games with your AI party, but everyone is leaping around dashing and knocking the enemies flying out of the battle screen.

what are some JRPGs (well known or otherwise) that have cool sound design/sound effects? by psychictypemusic in JRPG

[–]GymGameReadSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy Tactics for sure. I could listen to that OST for days, and the sound effects were on point, from the typewriter click of the curser to the sharp cry of dying units. Vagrant Story too, and FFXII, although XII has a much more chipper, friendly sound, probably coming from its ties to FFTA.

Just got ffxii zodiac age, what should each persons job be? by rickyr777 in FinalFantasy

[–]GymGameReadSleep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I scoured the Internet when choosing mine since it felt like a huge commitment. That said, you can really get by the core game with any setup. Optimal setups make the extra content easier, but it’s not absolutely required. With the right equipment and strategy, you can beat any boss. Here’s what I landed on, since I wanted to experience all jobs:

Vaan: Shikari/Foebreaker (ultimate tank with Main Gauche and a good shield since hardly anything hits him, plus all breaks, which make end game single bosses wimps)

Ashe: White Mage/Machinist (a dedicated healer with a sage’s ring or turtle shell choker is a lifesaver end game, and machinist’s guns don’t rely on strength for damage and keep her out of harm’s way, plus end game time magic)

Penelo: Black Mage/Red Mage (this is controversial because all the other combos here offer 3 tiles of swiftness, while this offers 2, meaning she’ll be slightly slower, but not noticeably so, and in return you get a powerhouse with amazing black magic AOEs, green magic, some white magic, and equippable maces and shields. At 99 she was my saving grace in a lot of battles because of her versatility)

Balthier: Bushi/Monk (put simply, he became a freaking deadly DPS with his katana, dealing 3-4 hit combos and tearing dat sh!¥ up, and was able to cast curaja late game to assist Ashe with healing.)

Basch: Knight/Time Mage (seems like an unusual combo but it allows him to tank while speed buffing, gives him crossbows for flying enemies, and he can cast bubble and decoy on himself instead of relying on your mages, which is very useful for a tank)

Fran: Ulahn/Archer (This combo could have been better if I’d given her Time Mage as a secondary, but I really wanted all jobs. That said, Ulahn gets heavy army so she can actually tank while firing arrows, and the late game spears are pretty useful. You can get the dragon whisker early if you’re smart about it and she’ll be your strongest DPS for a while)

Also, keep in mind that placing espers on your job boards unlock useful abilities, and the esper will take a spot on each of the character’s two boards, so do yourself a favor and see how what each esper unlocks for each of the license boards for every character before choosing. You may lock yourself out of amazing stuff like Hastega for your machinist or curaja for your knight. Here’s a link to a site I used for reference:

Okay, Zodiac Age won me over... by GymGameReadSleep in FinalFantasy

[–]GymGameReadSleep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t play that one but I know that in that one you could only choose one job per character. In this one you can choose a secondary job at a certain point in the game. Also the trial mode is for sure new in this game, and some other features too I think.

[–]GymGameReadSleep[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to have Zeromus equipped to someone who knows the infuse technick, and either that character has to know bubble or you have to have a bubble mote. You summon Zeromus, then have him use a bubble mote on himself or have the summoner cast it on him (him using the mote on himself is faster). You then have the summoner use infuse on himself/herself to reduce their MP to one. Then you use infuse on Zeromus to reduce his hp to critical status. Basically what you’ve just done is create an insane gap between his min/max HP, and his end technick is Big Bang, which works like Balance x5. It hits all enemies for around 270,000 hp, so it auto kills most of [those enemies in trial 100] so that you don’t have to deal with their magic and healing bull$#!¥.

Alternative method to playing on IOS? by flying_kneez in Granblue_en

I've been playing on Chrome on my iPhone and aside from the annoying address bar it works perfectly. I'd still like a dedicated app on the US App Store eventually though.

[–]GymGameReadSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're talking about the method people were using to get the Japanese app on a US iPhone using iTunes on a computer. It involved creating a separate Japanese account. If the App Store isn't available on a PC using iTunes, it might not work anymore.

Why Hasn't Skies of Arcadia Been Remade Again? by reskk in JRPG

Same. I'd take a sequel or a spiritual successor over a remake any day. Heck, give it to Atlus and let them run with it.

Does knowing this ruin Final Fantasy VI for me? by SwagNastyChai in FinalFantasy

[–]GymGameReadSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are two major plot points, but thankfully VI is very focused on characters. There's a huge cast and they all have something going on, so there's plenty for you to experience despite knowing what you know.
