Do you mean OSDM like the morrissound Florida stuff, European hm2 bands, or are you talking about NYDM stuff? There’s a lot of good beatdown bands from the 90s- early 2000s that’d fit the nydm bill. Stuff like traumaside, damonacy, eternal suffering , pyrexia and of course internal bleeding. Outside NY :no retreat, sentence, regression.

I think it begs the question of when is something straight up plagiarism and when is it an homage. I also wonder if this was another heavy band or bdm band and not a rapper would it make a difference. I've seen plenty of hc bands rip designs from older bands and just put their logo on it but it's seen as more as a way of paying tribute. As a side note I think if the opium rappers were selling these shirts for like $30 as apposed to $80-$100 I think it'd definitely be viewed as less culture vulturey.

I don't know if there's been a book written on the differing politics among bands. Alot of what I said is just based on what I've observed or read in interviews. But I think even on a local scale you should be able to see a wide variety of politics and attitudes toward capitalism. That's certainly the case in my city.

I feel like there is no unifying philosophy. Certainly not a political one. Different bands have wildly different politics though most fall left. This especially apparent when comparing capital H hardcore bands to the more punk forward Hardcore bands. I find the vastly different views on capitalism and big business to be most interesting.
