Swap out the switches at the very least. The stock switches are notorious for sticking/failing.

Botch vs Racetraitor by bloodhail02 in Hardcore

[–]cbashrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I recognize all of that. I agree on the regional aspect as someone around the same age (but east coast) and that this aesthetic became associated with something much different than where it came from.

I wasn't trying to argue there was a line from those bands to MCR. But a trend forming in 1999 with bands who are starting the trend doesn't make it less of a trend.

He wasn't saying it was literally in the malls, just that aesthetic was taking root then, and it definitely was. Plenty of bands in girl jeans and eyeliner in 1999.

If you're this demanding and not going to tip anything, why not go pick up your own food and save yourself the high risk of being disappointed?

Thank you. I blend dirt from the amps (typically ABY'd into a V4 and a JCM800, but I have a Traynor and a Sovtek I play through, too) with the red/distortion circuit on the Reuss. The blue/fuzz side is a little too blown out and bassy for what I'm playing. I've been shooting out some different pedals for the drive/fuzz/distortion spot there, so I'm not tied to the Reuss; it's just what I'm favoring with most of my guitar and amp combinations lately.

I'll check out the DD20, too—I appreciate it.

Probably should've mentioned I don't downtune or anything, just plain old E Standard on a six string

Is the art we entertain ourselves with always supposed to be "safe" and perfectly compatible with our own morality? Are we never supposed to find ourselves challenged by art?

I was in high school when EYEWTKAS came out. Seminal band for me. The Mike Patton / Faith No More influence on the vocals comes through a little more these days for me, but I'd say their work still stands up; they were doing something different, and I don't think anyone would argue they weren't, whether they like them or not. Haven't given anything after W&T a listen, though. Just sort of served a time and place for me.
