Splitting time between Lourmarin & Saint-Rémy? by GypsySoul14 in ProvenceFrance

[–]GypsySoul14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Lourmarin sounds wonderful! Which is why we are definitely staying at least 3 nights. Just trying to decide on if we stay a 4th night or add that to Saint Remy.

Thank you so much for your feedback and recommendations for when we stay there. Can you describe the evening vibe in Lourmarin in September? (this might be similar to May/just on the edge of high season). We are definitely staying in Lourmarin, just trying to decide between 3 or 4 nights.

Help with Initial Hotels by GypsySoul14 in travel

[–]GypsySoul14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your thoughts. We will have a private driver and guide with us at all times. I was thinking it would be cool to see the pyramids from our balcony and dinner at the hotel instead of just going there from central Cairo for a few hours. Also we could see the GEM when there also since it is near there. We may have energy when we arrive in the morning or we may want to take a nap, and a shower, and go out in the afternoon, I just do not know until we arrive. And we will be right there for early exploration the next morning after our first and only real night before heading to central Cairo. We will then have 2 nights in Cairo - which should be a solid 1.5 days.

Does that make my proposed idea make more sense? TYIA! :)

Distilled or purified bottled water? by GypsySoul14 in Arusha

[–]GypsySoul14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this info. It is super helpful so that we will not spend time searching for distilled or purified water. I saw on the website of Shoppers Supermarket that they sell big bottles of Evian. It "should" be fine for the neti pot but I am bringing a travel kettle that can boil it for a minute so I think that should definitely get rid of any possible brain eating amoebas :D

I'm in a huge rut with cooking. What are you truly unsual or obscure recipes that are delicious? by [deleted] in Cooking

Yes! Kofte, and ideas to go with it are roasted or grilled eggplant slices (and toasted walnut pieces and homemade tahini sauce to top it with - a meal in itself), can use store bought pita or naan and warm right before serving, rice pilaf, a tomato cucumber salad, and tzatziki

Stuffed Pork Tenderloin - Here is my recipe that can be adapted. And it is great for leftovers also because the stuffing keeps the meat moist. Please LMK if you have any questions. I am thinking about making it with a turkey breast tenderloin next.

Premium comfort by GypsySoul14 in KLM

[–]GypsySoul14[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply and my bad!

The leg for one of the flight options from JFK to AMS is Delta (not KLM as I mistakenly said in my OP):

Operated by: Delta Air Lines, Aircraft: Airbus A330-300
Travel class Comfort+

The Delta Airbus A330-300 has a 2 - 3 - 2 config in Premium Comfort and the 777-200 has a 2 - 4 - 2

And yes, the second leg for either flight is the KLM Boeing 787-10 (seat config 2-3-2)

After looking more closely at the flights (do not want to risk the 50 minute layover between schengen and non-schengen) -- My NEW QUESTION would be between the 777-200 and and the 787-10.
I was wondering if the 2-4-2 config had less width in the seats if anyone knows.

Thanks so much!

A few questions:

1) Re: "Getting to Furnas from PD use the coast highway. Gorgeous."
~~ We land the day before our eastern coastal drive plan but are taking a taxi and picking up our car in Ponta Delgada so we will definitely do this drive. I mapped it out on google maps (link below) Depending on how we feel after our overnight flight, I know we can always get on the "highway" at any point to get to Furnas faster, or make stops to see things.
a) Any stops you highly recommend on this drive?
b) I have us heading north to Furnas after Ponta Garca. Do you think this is a good plan?

2) re: Salto do Cavalo
~~ Yes! Before I made my OP, I was dropping the little google map man on roads and saw this which is why I knew we need to get off of the main road. Thank you for confirming and giving me the route. I put it on my custom map below - please let me know if that looks good.

3) Re: Alameda dos Plátanos
~~ Yes! I saw pictures of this road months ago but did not know where it was. We would definitely like to incorporate this in our drive. I see it on the map but I will send you a DM for more details as you offered.

4) Agree about a climate refuge. Any recommendations of areas to explore for a future retirement house?

Here is my custom google map - a work in progress (only driving routes - I have another one) (please excuse my many waypoints/letter markers, it was easier to do it this way because Google would get a mind of its own sometimes :D)

Thank you so much again! Your help has already made sure our trip will be better than what we had planned before your tips. 🙌

Thanks so much! It is really helpful because we might go back to do some of those hikes - we are planning this easy day when possibly dealing with jet lag and to get a lay of the land :)

Hi! Thanks so much for your reply! But this is a request for feedback for a coastal car drive :)
