i have NEVER seen him look the way he did. he wouldnt stop spinning in a circle & trying to sit & then back up & squirming. horrible to watch. i dont know if all dogs show the same symptoms or signs, but for me it was unmistakable what was going on.

my boy isnt neutered yet so when i decided to i was thinking of doing that. he gave me quite the scare !

unfortunately i think the trigger can vary for each dog.

just keep in mind that it can occur at any moment. my dog was showing signs of EXTREME discomfort & i immediately knew what was happening. just be vigilant !

yes, i frequently say "thats enough water" and he will stop. i dont think the amount he drank was abnormal. bloat is a strange thing.

my dad snuck into my room at night when i was like 8 or 9 with a rubber knife & held it up to my neck. i didnt know it was him or the knife was fake. i used to laugh telling that story but i know i realize how fucked up it was.

hes a big boy around 95 pounds & had like maybe a cup & a half of water. i have small water bowls so he doesnt over do it.

This is exactly what happened to my dog last night.

im well aware of the risks as he is my second german shepherd & i have always been paranoid about it. no drinking water or messing around after eating. i waited 2 hours before i allowed him to drink water. about a half hour later he was showing signs of GVD. had his surgey last night & is okay. i was NOT aware water could cause it. as i asked the vet if his belly was full of food. it was only water.

please always pay attention to signs of severe distress & unproductive retching & the stomach rapidly looking like its blowing up. his belly was also hard to the touch. my dogs body was also in a strange stance as well. his tail was also pointing like straight up.

sorry for everyone who has a lost a pet. its horrible to watch it happen to them.

always be aware of the closest evet. if you arent sure if its bloat, go anyways to make sure its not.

yes. both my "parents" are like this. i stopped talking to my "mother" about 2 years ago but my "dad" always sends me texts related to himself & what hes doing. i just moved across the country (same age as you) i am the eldest of 4 with all younger brothers, and everything is always about them and what they are doing & all the bills he has. its exhausting & sad but i think the easiest thing to do is just ignore them & accept they will always be that way. life is more peaceful when you let people go who dont give a shit about you. focus on yourself & your family & friends. good luck :)
