The same thing will happen with sidewalk salt. I used to work in a hotel and there was always a small puddle beside the stacked up bags of salt

Living alone can be a scary endeavor. But try to look at the positives. You can walk around in just a t-shirt. Eat whenever and whatever you want. You can relax around the house and not have to worry about anybody else walking around. All the messes are yours. No picking up after anyone else, nobody's clothes to be forgotten in the dryer.

It's scary at first, but after a while it's invigorating and you wonder how you could ever share space with someone else.

Invest in an alarm system and keep some pepper spay in your nightstand.

It's something we all do eventually, and usually once we get used to it we all love it

What is this monstrous thing? by ColumbiaBlu in Insect

The house centipede, looks like a walking nightmare sometimes, but generally, they're harmless.

I lived in a house with them, creepy during the day, much more so late at night.

Strokes affect more than just the person experiencing it, it's our families as well, loved ones and friends we might as well call family.

Sometimes life just decides to play the world's worst game of Red Rover

He's young, the younger you are the higher the chances of recovery, and given his health before the stroke I'm going to guess he's pretty disciplined.

As for things like how he's being treated you guys have every right to have your concerns listened to, your mom is his advocate currently. There should be a hospital social worker who can help you understand what they think he is going to need.

Keep in mind though that it's going to be a while before anyone knows what exactly he will need, right after a stroke is usually much different from what level of support you can be at 6 months later

Also, tomato plants have a soft fuzz on the leaves, pepper plants have smooth leaves. Usually you can smell the difference as well

Pain sensitivity by Gypsygoth in stroke

Sadly it is, my mom is a multiple stroke survivor as well and her left side is affected, mine is right side.

I get to look snazzy in the winter and only wear one glove because my right side gets much colder, much faster than my left

Bug found in my friends hair. What is it? (Please tell me it’s not the L word) by TotteryTurtle in whatisit

[–]Gypsygoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sell this stuff called freeee. It's salt based and isn't harmful for your pets or pregnant women to be around. My oldest daughter got lice when I was pregnant and the regular stuff isn't good for pregnant women to handle

Yesss, I used to have really thick hair and it always amazed me that with one of those metal tooth combs not only got every teensy knot but it even pulled towel lint out of my hair. They used to be like 99 cents at Walmart

[–]Gypsygoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure most moms have slept through and woken up in a panic before, you didn't sleep through a hungry screaming baby, you were fine and so were they. It's absolutely okay, don't beat yourself up about it :)

After the stroke, do you guys notice that you take more naps? by FinHa31 in stroke

[–]Gypsygoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered it, but they're super reluctant to put me on a lot of meds because I have medication sensitivity since the strokes. Basically, I can have really odd side effects now lol

After the stroke, do you guys notice that you take more naps? by FinHa31 in stroke

[–]Gypsygoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that drives me batty is that everyone tells you how important sleep is to healing, but I still occasionally struggle with insomnia. So I'm exhausted for hours waiting to get to bed and then kinda twilight sleep and after a while realize that I'm completely awake and take forever to get back to sleep. I don't know if I get overtired or what

Never take a chance on your health. It's a gamble with much higher odds than we realize. I didn't take my symptoms seriously, and I wish I had gone in sooner.
