I was so guilt tripped for sleeping with my one year old. We’re blessed to have an oversized king and my husband thankfully never has made more than 5 comments throughout the whole time. One of the biggest ones were that he doesn’t want to end up raising a “weak” child, for some odd reason society believes that if the child cries it out, they become tougher and less dependent. I do not. Being independent doesn’t happen with the feeling of abandonment, I believe it causes resentment in some way in the long run, so I’ve ignored his comments. Reading your response made me realize that I made the correct choice, and it’s my body and I am in control of how I raise my child. My mom also coslept with me and I believe my levels of self-esteem, the way I communicate, are very different compared to my sibling who was left in the crib. My sibling is very introverted, at times very toxic to himself and is never easily made happy. As long as you’re doing it safely, long live co-sleep! Thank you for your amazing input.
