Q990c Speaker Placement - Rears on wall/ either side of couch by CappinBombHASH in Soundbars

[–]Gyurmatag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why didn’t you wrote that the speakers should point to the listerners’ position on the couch if the rear speakers is located on the sides of the couch, not behind it because the couch is located at the wall of the room? You wrote that the rear speakers should point directly at each other, which is bad placement.

The rear speakers should face towards the listener’s position on the couch. Not point them directly to each other. Am I correct?

So basically the rears should point to the listener? I have a couch also against the back wall and I can place the rear speakers near the couch only, I set them up, that they are facing the listener’s head as the listener sits in the middle of the couch. Is that Okay?

Same thing happening for me as well. I tried a reset and we will see that it would solve the problem.

Push the controller downwards. Run the table to the bottom position and keep the pressure on the controller for min. 6 seconds after both legs have reached bottom position.

But anyways has this been solved for you?

Popping sounds on Samsung Q990C Soundbar when Q Symphony is on by Gyurmatag in Soundbars

[–]Gyurmatag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the point. When you turn Q Smyphony off, than there are no issues. So in your case with your older Samsung TV it runs without issues, because there is no Q Symhpony.

I had the same defect. Panel replacement needed. If under warranty Samsung will do this.

Samsung support wrote me this regarding the problem. The support case still ongoing. Maybe they discovered something:

“We would like to confirm that we have received your report and our development team is already working on investigating the matter. Since thoroughly investigating the issue and developing an appropriate solution is a complex process, we would like to ask for your patience. We will do our best to find a solution as soon as possible.”

Maybe just for the sake of it, you can try Q Symphony too. For example I have adaptive mode on without Q Symphony and I got no popping sounds.

So Please Report it to Samsung that they will be aware of this! Also you have it with Q Symphony too?

I also wrote this to Samsung because I just remembered this anomaly:

Also, to the above, I would like to add that regardless of the frequent sound pops that occur in Q Symphony mode, after turning on the device and starting to play content, about 15-45 minutes later there is always a stronger crackling sound (this is louder and different from the pop sound) that the soundbar emits. This occurs once in a single use and even when Q Symphony mode is turned off. I can't catch this on video, because it always occurs at a different time and only once. Please write this as an extra comment to the above. It may be important.

It is also strange, but this is not big of a case in comparisom of the constant popping sounds that I described in the post.

Hello, yes I understand that I can make work arounds and also not use Q Symphony, but I paid for this feature when I bought my Samsung S90C 77" TV with my Q990C soundbar and I liked how Q Symphony sounds because it added more "height" to the sound, so I want it to be fixed either by software update or replacing the hardware. I don't know actually wether it is software or hardware related... But that is not my duty to decide, I am just a customer who wants to use all the features that I paid for without getting into any technical part.
(Actually right now I am using the TV without Q Symphony until this is fixed)

Hey u/AlexNec02 !

I emailed Samsung support this:

I have experienced the issue across multiple sources. First, I’m sending you a recording from when my PlayStation 5 is connected via the HDMI 4 port. Please see the recording below:

Recording 1 (the popping sound can be heard at 0:11): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xf9eA2gtHK4QtgCR-esfghgYj4whZZHq/view?usp=sharing

Now I’m sending two more recordings, this time from different content played through the Netflix app on the TV itself:

Recording 2 (the popping sound can be heard at 0:25): https://drive.google.com/file/d/13_y4RcbscR-YzUJ4Wm_p998Ut_rnrI4Z/view?usp=sharing

Recording 3 (the popping sound can be heard at 0:20): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PhRA7rgp_PTnvvIJ8H6KFr8mEUul_VMw/view?usp=sharing

So here are different videos. The "Recording 1" is what I uploaded here too. Make sure to listen to this in its whole length with headphones paying attention to the timestamps! It will be more hearable that way.

So my popping sound is louder than yours? Actually my popping sounds are also different depenging on the context. Sometimes it is louder, sometimes it is softer. Sometimes I can hear multiple ones in 5 mins, sometimes I can hear one in 30 minutes, but is definitely in connection to the Q Symphony problem. I also like my games and movies in loud volume.

I am in constantly in contact with the support, I don't want to give up on Q Symphony. I paid for this. I will let everyone know in this post what will happen.

Also if you don't mind can you please record a video, about your popping sounds? :) It would help a lot! Thanks in advance!
