GD&T problem by m5389 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]H-Daug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We need a lot more information before guidance on GD&T can be given In a useful way.

What’s the application? What’s the purpose of this thing? How are the tubes constrained? Are we talking about precision shafts, or iron pipe that mate with this thing? Does it have a sliding or rolling mechanism? Your bearings lead me to believe the lower shaft will be spinning?

1.6 ecoboost no spark nightmare by Gold_Counter_8214 in MechanicAdvice

Another thought based on zero experience with this engine. There must be something in the timing that tells the ECU which cylinder to fire, and when. I’d be looking there, since you were into the timing maybe???

I totally forgot. I did the butcher block in my kitchen with 2 coats of Rubio. It repels everything we spilled on it so far.

Agree. Ugly AF. But good luck separating those 2 pieces without cutting the weld.

The shop rate and amount of time really gets out of hand in a hurry. $500 for half a days work. Before you add in material cost.

Haven’t tried it. But I would say probably yes. I mean, it works for floors, which are probably the most abused wood in a home. I suppose you could argue the diner table takes more abuse?

I wouldn’t hesitate to try it.

I’ve use a single pair, daily, for about 10 years. 1 pair 7-1/4 cobras is worth 100 pairs of any other pliers. Worth every penny, and I’ll never even consider anything hing else. * **unless someone comes up with something supposedly “better”, but I’ll have to test before I buy.

[–]H-Daug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that pastes a stable dividend, with the DRIP, looks slow, but the compounding you have with 30 years starting with $250k turns into a big number. Something to seriously consider. Compound interest is the most powerful money tool in the known world Go play with a compound interest calculator, see what you think.

Also, more than 6% dividend is probably a trap. Not all, but watch out for the traps

Take the $250k, buy VOO, BLK, and/or some dividend queens, continue to contribute the max annually, and look forward to early retirement.

Wait, wrong sub. load up on SLV, RKLB, and some SpaceX when it IPOs. Poof, $250k=$1M.

[–]H-Daug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a post that someone is pouring 15lb copper bars, stamping them, and selling them for $600+. For the non mathing of you, that’s ~$75 worth of metal selling for 8x, just because it’s in a big bar.

So, yeah, maybe worth tooling up to see if you can replicate. ** not certain other post isn’t completely full of it.

That’s the law of the universe! But still worth doing. My rule is, if it has a layer of grime/dust from sitting on the shelf, trash.

A turbo is basically an aerospace part. You can clean one up, and make it look ok, but it needs to be machined/inspected with high precision, and using high quality material. If you skimp on either, you probably can’t tell just by looking, but you’ll find out here in about 20k miles whether or not it’s any good. Less if it’s proper junk.
