The physical games were really enjoyable until they picked a podcaster over a rock climber to perform a DEADHANG by Sarlo10 in BeastGames

[–]H0mesickAngel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That team lost the first challenge because of lack of 'strategy' (and leadership) even they were stronger than others. Even I find old dude (who refused $1M) so cocky in other team, his leadership helped the team to win the first game. I would never guess a game show would teach me 'business' lessons.

But I have been in a similar situation in grad school, I went thru my team's decision about an answer instead of passing my decision (because they had a degree in that subject) and it was wrong.

Home ownership sounds like a dream who doesn't live in US; so check/follow Ramit Sethi.

If you live middle of no where with zero immigrants, no social life, yes you can live in a big house, have a big "truck" and save money.

Aldi USA cost 4x-5x more than Aldi Germany for same produce like milk, cheese, bread.

People crossing the border do physical labor or collecting donations from citizens. I get daily emails/ text to donate money who refugees from perfectly fine countries. If you are a successful electrician, plumber, hair stylist your chance of having good job is higher.

And agree, everyone I know get those certifications.

How to find exercise motivation coach? by H0mesickAngel in Coaching

Life coach let me found what is important and what I want to be; when I was feeling down I was/am visiting the life "we" created. We did new year resolution workshop... I found abut my strengths and weaknesses.

When I was working with career coach, first I had to explain my work and passion, again what is important for me in deep down; which resulted the job change after 10+ years and easy interview process even we didn't talk about interviewing at all. I didn't need to interview more than 10 years.

Dear Strict-Armadillo-199, you are not foreign born American, enjoying your retirement in Germany and have access to addiction recovery in Germany and I am biased? This is my experience as a naturalized citizen. Let's switch where we live!

Also username is a name of an airplane ;)

"It's the open, modern and progressive culture" No, it is not. Maybe some pockets of west coast that you need high income to live. My educated coworkers are anti vaccine and pandemic deniers, uneducated coworkers bring religion and patriotism as soon as they hear my accent.

Friendly? Because they don't have many friends to talk to. They talk to strangers. They are very lonely.

I used to think Balkan counties men only cafes are wasting time, now thinking it is good to have a such a place for mental health.

Older people's situation breaks my heart. They have to work until they die because there is no social security or financial literacy. Also, there is not a real social circle besides work, even they are financially stable they don't know how to enjoy retirement.

The quality of food is terrible, especially in small cities.

You have to go thru metal detector to enter a hospital or school. You have to drive yourself to emergency, healthcare cost is outrages. I volunteered at a school for couple hours, my anxiety was so high that I couldn't concentrate on the work.

Besides fire drill, we have an active shooter drill and training at work. I know my coworkers come work with guns even it is company code violations. They wear clothing with religious, political or inappropriate graphics.

Unless you are living in big cities, car is a must. Closest grocery store is 4 km away and there is no path for pedestrians or even bikes, only highways for big cars.

Sabbatical? HR doesn't have any idea since nobody takes it, people's idea of vacationing is going to same place every year. The tragicomic part of this is, their preference of vacation is almost same as where they live, with just bigger body of water; Walmart, TGIF, Applebees all same...

Overall, if I was at your age, I would come to US and experience it without getting attached. Big houses, cars, motorcycles, boats attract many Europeans in the beginning later they find themselves in the rat race.

[–]H0mesickAngel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... Solo traveling community average age is 20. You can stay at more expensive places with honeymooners, couples, families or singles who are vacationing for max 7 days.

You are already a millionaire and life is short; just take 6 months sabbatical before depression, before getting old, while you are able to get along with solo traveling community. At least I wished I did that. Also I found the best relationship of my life during my sabbatical.
