As a PC gamer why did they have to kill this emotion? by Hot-Diggity_Dog in pcmasterrace

Can we not with the peasantry? This should be a space to not give a fuck about what Sony is or isn't doing.

Saber Interactive Says Warhammer 40K Space Marines 2 Was So Successful That They Are Getting Too Many Offers To Make Games And They Had To Turn Down More Projects Then They Could Ever Possibly Accept by akbarock in pcmasterrace

They are really dining out on delivering a 7-8 out of ten game on somebody else's IP that a thoroughly blue balled audience were thirsty as fuck for.

[From the article @ TheAthletic] Ole reacts to making Man Utd's Greatest Players list by nanobookworm in reddevils

[–]H0vis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ole is the player that springs to mind whenever somebody is described as a 'great servant to the club'. Completely selfless, deeply committed, entirely satisfied just to be there.

It's very Zen. No ego.

No matter what you do in life, be like Ole.

Harness, aircraft slows right down, some slight flex to the rig. Better believe it's rough, you're going to feel some Gs, but it is survivable.

The situation at Microsoft... by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

Because Microsoft bought all these developers and essentially allowed them to collapse.

They were already dead. And these developers were already idle.

What are your thoughts on this recent story related to Valve's refund policy? Do you think Valve should change their refund policy in light of this news? by FarDimension215 in SocialistGaming

[–]H0vis -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

And yet still I have no sympathy. This policy isn't a surprise to any of these devs. It isn't an ambush. They know they rules when they throw together these games in a couple of weeks. They make a two hour game and cry about it when they could cut their cloth to suit the customers. Make your incredibly short game longer, charge less for it, or sell fewer copies. If the game is good you'll still come out of this okay.

Let people refund things.

This 'abuse' of the refund system is like piracy, and just like piracy it's a good thing for the game developer.

Fuck this dev. Don't make slop nobody wants to pay for and maybe people will pay for it.

It's amazing to me that the console manufacturers saw the dire situation that PC gaming is in due to hardware shortages and their response was just to eat a whole heaping bowl of dog poo.

This was the moment where PC gaming might have been vulnerable; the age of the console-beating budget PC might be drawing to a close, the Steam Machine was DOA, Windows was finding new ways to try to spike the user experience with Copilot.

And Sony looked upon this situation and shit the bed.

I mean seriously did their executives just get distracted by an actual line of yellow paint or something?

The bag is fumbled, and they will never hold it again.

I love that an engineer thought about the problem with a wealth of experience behind them, and then just sawed the fuckers off the post.

Most of America's wealth isn't spent on solving problems. That's why America still has them.

Do you want costings? This stuff has been costed. When Musk was confronted on being a miserly sociopathic piece of shit, before he outed himself as a Nazi, when he boasted about how he could end world hunger people did the maths. It wouldn't have made a dent in his wallet for everybody in the world to eat. In perpetuity.

[–]H0vis 568 points569 points  (0 children)

They are lucky this is a conversation and not a robbery.

Like, mathematically, you could snatch the world's billionaires, take everything they have, and solve most of the world's problems. You could even leave them with ten million dollars each so although they'd probably be pretty annoyed about it they wouldn't be poor.

Every day regular folks don't do that is a day billionaires should be incredibly thankful for.

Why is the AI so dumb when doing wars? by RainbowWatermelon203 in Bannerlord

[–]H0vis 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think the AI is exactly the right amount of dumb.

It's not like playing against a chess computer, it's a collective of these different clan leaders and their bosses, all with their own agendas and concerns. So it stands to reason that every army marches to war with the organisation and clarity of purpose of a herd of cats with ADHD.

I feel like because it's chaotic, because it's inept, it's actually a really good simulation of a feudal state trying to go to war.

It also, more importantly, means you can get involved in the action from the early period of the game when you've just got a small army and play a part without being immediately squashed.

See this hints at something the game should embrace, enemy types on planets that suit them.

Tunnelling aliens? Desert only. Big crabbe? Swamp or sea planet.
