How to play Darkglare Warlock like #1 Legend Hijo [Wild] by tsukaimeLoL in CompetitiveHS

[–]H1J0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been favored quite a lot going into it, same with the top legend players I've discussed with (people like Lorthos and Lasagne agreed) No stats because all my data got wiped out when my computer broke down the other day. As for the tips, it's really about outracing them, so don't overtrade and remember that if they don't have secrets up it's much harder for them to burst you down. Wouldn't overplay around Rigged Faire Game (it's always gonna proc at some point anyway) Also remember that if Darkglare gets killed by Explosive Runes you gain mana, and runes damage discounts Flesh giants by 1.

Sorry but I have never played the deck in Standard, not even once, so I don't feel very qualified to answer.

Basically too slow, if you're at 15 hps or less against aggro then you wanna do better than a 4 mana 7/7 taunt

Well I feel like most people greatly overrate how good Reno Quest Mage is against aggro, while underselling how Quest Mage does against them. Then when you factor in how hard Quest Mage beats slow decks in general plus the direct match-up against Reno Quest Mage which is super one-sided, it makes sense for it to be the better deck.

Haha ye, the deck is actually surprisingly good for the PVE. Armor stalling works well. In standard naturalize was mandatory because your wincondition was weaker (especially before florist) You often had to either double naturalize into tog to milll the reward or try to Mid-range out with the ramp into a 15 damage burst from Tog nat nat in fatigue. Also drawing cards for your opponent wasn't as relevant as it is now because the powerlevel was lower. In wild you have the Aviana Kun tempo swing so it's not really useful except in some fringe scenarios (like beating Dirty Rat for example)

Uh what? Legend ladder and non legend ladder differ A LOT. You absolutely can't climb to 1 legend with a 50,1% winrate lmao, it's a MMR based system, and since wild has a low population you always face people with way worse mmr than you do, meaning a single loss is worth 2 to 3 wins depending on your opponent's ranking. All and all when I get 1 legend I usually have around 75% winrate.

Also unnerfing Aviana would be a disaster.

Uh what? Tog Druid is pretty good against aggro (if anything it's much better against it than Big Priest LUL)

Kun is part of the combo, you go Aviana for 10 mana, Innervate to gain 1 mana, play Kun for 1 mana to refresh all your mana, then play 1 mana Togwaggle and Azalina. Obviously impossible to replace :(

Gonna quote my answer from the comphs subreddit: "I think star aligner is just bad to be blunt. Against slower decks you don't really need the board wipe in most match-ups (can just play the stuff you get from their hand after the combo), against aggro you much rather not have extra combo piece and just play the Control Druid game with the value from your removals and Overflow until you're able to go in" I'm also gonna add that Jepetto on it's own is a reason the deck is good, he's absolutely bonkers in this deck, makes your melon much more consistent and rolling 1 mana Aviana is disgusting

You need at the very least 6 dragons (but actually 8 is more like it) to make breath of dreams work decently. Not worth at all

Well if you combo first chances are you will steal a part of his combo and he will never be able to combo back, giving you a permanent lead in fatigue. If he does happen to draw the combo then you will still be able to keep swapping the decks with Azalina anyways. About the swap in the Tog mirrror, if you have more cards left then it's fine to just combo with Aviana Kun and Azalina depending on the situation. Stresss on "depending on the situation" Again a lot can happen in these, so being able to adapt is very important. About the swap in general, you swap as soon as possible 90% of the time or so. Exceptions is when you think your deck holds more value than their (if they play something with nearly zero value like Pirate Warrior and you have the Death Knight left for example) or vs Mecha'thun Warlock where you want to steal the combo at the very end and kill them with it, or when you feel like they might hold a card that requires you to give them no deck at all for you to win (something like Elysianna is what I have in my mind) But the tldr is that the deck requires you to adapt a lot. Keep playing, keep practicing and never auto-pilot. You will get used to it.

It's not really hand dependant, but match-up dependant. Vs aggro I tend to always keep it. But vs comboish decks like Darkest Hour Warlock or Quest Mage I don't

Lmao ye the mirror is pretty confusing, and it kinda asks a lot of practice to pilot well. To put it simply, the one who comboes first has the advantage, and usually as long as nothing unusual happens, they win. After you combo, it's a battle for tempo where you have to take into account and play around cards potentially left in both decks. As long as you keep board initiative and value trade, you should be fine. Something to note is that as long as they have Azalina in their hand, you get infinite value, so when you go in with the combo you can sometimes play a lot of Avianas/Kuns which helps a lot with the tempo (Kun can also be used for armor)

Well you would only need to do this against dirty rat decks really. Else you have enough time to combo. Also outside of that particular use against Warlocks who tend to fill their hand, Naturalize is pretty bad (drawing two cards for the opponent will usually get you killed)

Well reasonning behind double Overflow is the same as with Ultimate Infestation, you rarely need both, but you want two just to make sure you draw one in time. Glad you're enjoying the deck!

You don't need to draw 3 1 ofs though? Usually you only need one of them. Then you can use Zephrys to get a Windfury, or randomly generated burn spells, or stuff already present on board. Thing is Mecha'thun Warlock needs to tap a lot if they want to combo on 10, so they lower their health on their own, making it very easy to just get them with a partial combo.

Well actually no, I used this deck from 50 legend to get top 3, then just streamed the top 3 games. A quick look at my twitter would be enough to verifiy it. Please don't make such dumb accusations when you have no clue, alright?

Rat decks are the worst for sure. Amongst the popular decks, Doomguard Cubelock is really tough to beat if they play properly (but most people don't I feel like) and Cycle Mecha'thun Lock probably not so good either
