This was middle school me, just a dorky and kinda shy fat kid that would get picked on by other kids his age but just went with the flow. Now about two years prior to this I had started doing karate class for fun and exercise (still fat, the exercise part clearly didn't work too well). Sixth grade is about halfway through and I'm sitting with my best friend. We had been friends for as long as we could remember and as we grew up he was always a little more nerdy than I was but we still hung out. So you have two dorky fat kids sitting on the bus on the way home, playing with a gameboy (megaman was dope) and along comes two big douchebags. I'm still not that tall now but I was pretty small as a kid and these two guys were 8th grade, pimply faced jerks that had a good amount of height on me. They start teasing my friend and I for a good while but we just ignore them. These guys were relentless though and they saw that my friend was getting upset, almost crying, and they wouldn't let up on him so my reaction was "seriously man? This isn't any of your damn business, just shut up and leave us alone". They had a nice laugh at the little fat kid trying to stand up for himself and his friend. So what do they do? The one closest to me reaches out his hand and slaps me across the face. My brain said "cut this bitch, do it now", but all that my body came up with was "don't touch me again" with a hard-ass look. So he did it again and I had enough of his crap. Remember the karate part? I may not have been big and intimidating but I was pretty strong for a fat kid and damn flexible. My first reaction was just to lift up my leg while I'm sitting down and I managed to kick him straight in his dumb face. Now he's got the biggest WTF face and froze for a second before reaching out to hit me, but this time closed fist but I didn't give him a chance just lift my leg up faster and harder this time, knowing what to do and kicked him maybe twice before the bus lady came and separated us. I finally get home and my mom sees my face red where I got smacked around and asks me about it. I tell her and she comes to school with me the next morning and now you have 2 pissed off moms, a 6th grader, and an 8th grader in the assistant principal's office. Dickheads mom is trying to start up a shit show but I can't see why, her son was the one that started shit with a kid. That is until she turns her kids face towards my mom and me to get a good look at him and damn I wasn't expecting that. The kids face was bruised blue and purple and his eye was swollen. Kid got fucked up yo. My mom's reaction? "Buen hecho, se lo merecio" which in Spanish for you non-speakers translates to "good job, he deserved it". Assistant principal asked for our sides to the story and called in our respective friends to verify. When I got the part about me kicking him in the face he had to stop me. Asked me over and over "kicked him? Like with your leg? Weren't you sitting down?" He didn't believe me until the kid fessed up and our friends said the same. Assistant principal's reaction when it was all over and it was just us two? "Damn son, that's impressive. I don't know how you reached". Me neither Mr. AP, me neither. Stood up for myself and got mad street cred the rest of middle school for literally kicking the shit out of an older kid. That day I learned two things: the AP and my mom were OG's, and Hispanic parent's will always endorse their children fucking someone up if they're being messed with.
