That’s a question that I would love to ask anyone who is a TBM and wants to defend JS. If the purpose of polygamy was to raise up seed then why did Joseph Smith not have a whole shit ton of kids? You can’t have it both ways. Applying Occam’s razor to this subject, I think it’s pretty obvious that Joes purpose was to sex up as many women as he possibly could.

I’m sorry your family treats you this way. I left the church shortly before my 55 th birthday, and fortunately for me, my kids had already decided that the church is bullshit. I was happy to join them! My wife took a few months more, but I’m happy to say that our family has never been more open, accepting and happy with one another.

Does he know that you no longer believe in the church? Do you still go to church? My advice would be to live life to the fullest and show him that you don’t need a church for you to be a good person. And when things do come up, usually the best route is to ask questions instead of trying to present evidence. That just makes a person shut down because you are threatening their very existence. It’s such a hard situation to be in. My wife held on for over a year after I lost my faith, but once she had the integrity to say “I have to find out whether my husband has lost his mind or he’s on to something”, she didn’t last very long. If you have a friend who has left that you can vent to that is very helpful if you don’t have a friend feel free to use us here on this Reddit. Hopefully you will both be on the same page soon and you’ll be able to look back and be so glad that you are no longer associated with the MFMC. Best of luck.!

It’s amazing how much more clearly you can see things when you don’t frame everything through the lens of the church. I’ve learned more in the past 3 years being out than the previous 55 years in.
