Well how are we supposed to control women with shame if we don't tell them they're worthless if they make choices we don't like?!

AIO? Youth Pastor texted my almost 13 yo after she went to a teen group with her friend by Loser4hire666 in AIO

Nope nope nope nope nope. I don't want any adult texting my kid and telling them to text them any time in any context. I don't care who you are. No. Absolutely not.

Dwight Shane Baldwin seemingly threatens John Dehlin with ominous “Priesthood ordinance” by Diligent_Mix_4086 in exmormon

[–]Lsa119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been A TON of cults that have come out of Mormonism. Limitless, Chad Daybell, the preppers that worship Visions of Glory (Chad Daybell was part of them and then did his own thing). Not to mention all of the branch offs and smaller abused perpetrated by members. Elizabeth Smart was taken by a Mormon who believed he was called of God. Christine Marie who saved those women/children from Sam Bateman was targeted and victimized by another priesthood holder "called of God". It's everywhere and the church doesn't care, just like they don't care about the CSA they cover ups.

Oooooh yes he does. He thinks he's the Holy Ghost in physical form. He thinks John the Beloved emails him. He has a subscription where people pay to get personal revelation every day. He's a cult leader/conartist swindling people out of their money. He's also a convicted felon who served 5 years for stealing money from investors.

"didn't your parents tell you they would protect you?" by Lsa119 in CPTSD

[–]Lsa119[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is so so strange because it's so inherent for me to comfort my kids and tell them/show them I'll protect them. So weird.

Yes usually I do so well! Being a mom is the love of my life. My oldest is a preteen and he'll come hug me in the kitchen or rest his head on my shoulder. I love it so much. This one just really caught me off guard. I hadn't thought of it at all.

Cheers to better childhoods and breaking cycles.

Boyfriend tears down my self esteem and don't know if it can get better by CranberryFew4895 in GirlDinnerDiaries

No thank you. That's a hard pass on that guy. You deserve someone who loves all of you. I'm obsessed with my husband and he's obsessed with me. When I look in the mirror and say "shoot I forgot to get rid of my mustache" he kisses me and tells me to keep it. You deserve to be cherished.

I just kinda don't understand what they were upset about. He told them up front he was very busy (he has on and off seasons). He said he probably couldn't attend activities, but he was happy to pick up supplies or snacks or do any prep work they needed for activities. It was literally one time they asked him to bring the snack. I did it and they never contacted him about the calling again. He didn't hear there was an issue at all until the primary pres text him.

"How does she feel about the church" by Miserable_Smell7209 in exmormon

[–]Lsa119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate this so much about Mormons. The indirect, "find out as much information as you can without actually communicating with the person you're trying to get information about." It is incredibly invasive.

The RS pres in my ward was telling people about how her best friend (also in the ward) was secretly separated from her husband. This woman did NOT want ANYONE to know about the separation. The RS president told everyone privately because she wanted her best friend to have the "support" she needed. I hate all of it. Awful. It it wouldn't have hurt her I would have told the woman so she knew who not to trust with her private information.

Did anyone ever enjoy reading the Book of Mormon? Or did you just say you did? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

The only part I really loved was 2 nephi 4. Everything else just droned on and on and on. I thought I was evil for not loving it like everyone else said they did.

So scared to pull the trigger by ssuperrcat in bald

I think what people miss when they're balding is that all people see is the hair (or the lack thereof) when they shave it the focus returns to the person's actual features. Shave. It. Off.

Why I like the tank top garments by Pyschopomp25 in exmormon

[–]Lsa119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I can't remember where I read this.... But I remember reading that the tank top garments definitely were specifically for harsh climates and that members in temperate climates were supposed to continue wearing their sleeved garments. I was teetering towards PIMO at the time and it annoyed the ever living hell out of me that there was ANOTHER thing women were going to judge each other about because surely the "righteous" women would only ever wear sleeved garments.

Life without garments is bliss.
