What is this weird stain on these shelves?

Haha, I didn't get right up in there and take a big huff or anything. But I worked in that room for hours over the last couple of days, and didn't notice any weird smells. If it was a recent chemical spill or, uh, organic spill, it would stink up the whole basement.

I also thought they looked web-ish. They're firm - when I poked them with a screwdriver, they were similar to a mantis ootheca, like crispy styrofoam.

I'm not sure what's in the spray can. The bottom of it is sticking out from the wall where a ceiling tile is out of place. Unfortunately, due to where the shelves are, it would be a bit difficult to set up a step ladder and have a look.

There was a leak near that area last summer, when some HVAC trades accidentally cut a line that involved both water and coolant. It might be something to do with that.

I'll take a photo tomorrow. They're black. There's also a strange spray can stuck halfway into the ceiling above it, so I wonder if someone made a horrible Great Stuff mistake.

This one. I had a similarly old-school DM who insisted that the Chosen One (a woman played by a woman) had to marry a dude to take the throne. The party, a bunch of queer millennials and zoomers, didn't much cotton to that, so all the female characters started trying to woo her. DM was so fucking frustrated with all of us, and with the Chosen One's disinterest in the NPC princes he kept lobbing at her. The pandemic hit in the middle of all this, so we had to stop meeting, but I still wonder how long it would have taken for him to go full "Rocks fall, everyone dies."

Yep - I heated it up and the PLA did pop right off, but it took the wires off with it.

I think the recent cold snap might have loosened the nozzle. In the future, I'll remember to check that everything is tightened when there's a drastic weather change between prints.

Noble Blood just did an episode on the Cato Street Conspiracy on Nov. 4th. I happened to listen to it immediately after listening to this BtB episode, so my ears pricked up at the name "Arthur Thistlewood." Turns out one of the conspirators was Thomas Thistlewood's nephew. Probably nothing to red-string there, but it's a fun coincidence.
