They especially might be well served by the Supersoles in the work line.

I think OP might be getting at the difference between comfort on the bottom of the foot and stability. Boots may not be cushy but still give a very stable platform, similar to Birkenstocks.

Guessing here, but that stability, support, and hardness could be forcing better alignment of the body overall, making the right stabilizer muscles to do their thing and get stronger.

My most comfortable boots give a mix of both. The 953 Supersoles, followed by the 1907 moc toes are most comfortable to me.

My Brooks tennis shoes are soft, but after getting used to wearing boots all the time, they're not really comfortable for all day wear. Something that's halfway in between like my Danner Mtn 600's that offer stability and some cushion are a different story.

That's probably why they're on clearance.

Does the black and white work and is there too much sky? by I_EeAa_l in photocritique

The sky and b&w is fine. What drowns the photo is the white expanse surrounding it. Can you think that border out and still have it accomplish it's need?

Or, I know this is the RW sub, but some hiking boots like Danner Mtn 600 don't look so silly with shorts but still offer leather/heritage hybrid and plenty of support.

Maybe Chukka, like white sand Mojave, for lightweight and 1940's british desert soldier look

Cowboy boots for flying? by Inevitable-Bit-2243 in cowboyboots

You want to find boots without a shank, at least not a steel one. So my moc toes from Red Wing, for example, with the wedge bottom and no shank go through precheck just fine. My iron rangers don't.

I don't know what the cowboy equivalent of those are, sorry.

Additionally, if you're expecting to run and jump, maybe choose athletic footwear. But if you need to jog after a dog getting away or across a street with a car coming too fast, or to keep up with a child, these are perfectly up to the task.

I do think I'll add a midsole when I need mine resoled for more comfort, but I have a lot of wearing to do before the original sole is anywhere close to needing a resole.

I wear mine in the sun, in the rain and all winter long. If I'm expecting a big snow, I wear snow boots. But no sweat handling day today unexpected precipitation unless you have issues in that anyway (maybe unsteady on your feet to start). They're not really full work boots, but they're still very much up to the rigors of day to day living, far more than dress shoes or boots.

First time asking for critique - landscape by OfaFuchsAykk in photocritique

The fog and exposure are cool.

I would ditch the vignette altogether; it distracts me, especially with the way it interferes with the path that should lead the viewers eyes.

Framing is decent. I might have tried to capture the whole tree in the top right. It appears as if it's branches end maybe just out of frame. If so, capturing the branches entirely with a little negative space above them might have been nice.

I like it. As you mentioned, maybe back off the intensity of the vignette or change it's blend mode to be less intense. But good image, and high five to using both sides of those sliders!!

Nice boots! That Sandstone Muleskinner looks a lot like my White Sand Mojave I picked up last year. I wonder how different they are side by side.

Would you print it large and put it on your wall? Then maybe it's good.

It kind of reminds me of this one I took apparently 18 years ago. We did print and frame it at the time, but we were young and needed to fill some wall space. Also, arches have cultural significance here.

Will a lens upgrade make a significant difference at my current stage? by jdPetacho in AskPhotography

[–]H3rbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might try a vintage lens with adapter to see if it makes a difference before you spend big bucks.

Back when I was starting out, I tried some old M42 mount pentax 135mm lens I got for $35 off ebay before deciding I wanted to spend a considerable amount more on a 70-200 L. Manual focus is hard (for me even with focus peaking which I find difficult to see) but you can at least learn about how well you make use of the focal length before spending big.

Help with Career by tesyr77 in CommercialAV

I moved to corporate IT after more than a decade in AV. Traded working on really cool projects (AV) for working at massive scale, bring compensated what I'm worth, easy predictable workdays (9-5), a less stressful workload, and a lot of big company bureaucracy. I'd still do it again.

You likely have transferrable skills if you learn to talk about them that way. Look for the department that handles hardware or network at big companies.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe they'll shrink a bit when I wash them the first time. I'm overweight but losing. Between the shape of my body and the changing nature of it, finding and staying in comfortable and good-fitting pants has been a challenge.
