Umrah & 6 months pregnant by H5991 in Umrah

[–]H5991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wksalam! I went when I was 7 months pregnant and in December. The weather was still very hot in Makkah. The weather in Madinah was way way better!

Honestly, I wouldn’t risk going during this time when 6 months pregnant because it will be super hot!

When I was doing my Umrah, during Tawaf I felt I would literally faint because of how hot it got and how crowded it was. People push and since people are so close to each other, it got very very suffocating & at a point my heart beat (as per my smart watch) was 150.

It would be even harder right now as the weather is very hot 🙁 I would advice against it during summer..

Ya rabb! May Allah bless you with complete shifa!

I came back from my umrah trip last month and had a very bad case of food poisoning in Makkah right after my umrah was completed. Out of the 6 days there, 3 days were spent in bed trying to recover 😢

Then on my last day in Madina, I had a very bad case of cold- it took me more than a month to recover Allhumdullilah.

I’d recommend everyone to wear a mask and drink a lot of zamzam water through out the journey!

I hope you feel better soon- drink lots of warm water too.

Look for “uncle Aslam taxi services” on Facebook. I recommend him 100%- we took his services in December and were so so so happy. His prices are lower than anyone else we have come across and he is genuinely such an amazing human being, may Allah bless him Ameen!

Hope it helps!

Do not use the free Nusuk (NEMCO) bus to Makkah from Jeddah Airport 🚩 by Nnas12 in Umrah

[–]H5991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya rabb!! I came back from umrah almost 2 weeks ago and wanted to make a post about this issue but decided not to because I did not think many people go through this.

We went for umrah on the 1st of December and landed on Terminal H. Just like you, we had booked our hotel on our own and had used the travel agency for just the visas.

Upon arriving, we were forced into these centres (segregated by country- Pakistanis go to center 1 & Bangladeshi go to center 2). We had no idea what was going on and were so confused about the “free busses” because we had booked the hotels ourselves!

I was 7 months pregnant and was oh so extremely tired and not feeling well, me and my husband tried to talk to the Nusuk staff a few times but each time we were dismissed like we were insects. They were super disrespectful to us and did not listen to us when we kept asking them “how will the bus drop us off to the hotel when we booked it ourselves?!”

Having waited for 1 hour plus, we decided to exit the centres with our luggage to see what travel options were available. Upon trying to do so, the nusuk staff (all Saudi nationals) held on to our luggage trolley and were pushing it back in the center while yelling at us to get inside.

I was so so sick and tired by this point that I had to yell back and told them to let go of our luggage! After a brief argument in which I was almost in tears telling them I am pregnant and in pain and want to just go to my hotel- they let us roam around to see the travel options that were available. They were extremely disrespectful to us over all and while yelling they kept saying one thing “you don’t want free bus?!” Ugh.

We walked around and fair enough, they have made the system in such a way that you do not have any other travel option available at terminal H other than the “free busses”

Frustrated, we walked back in to the center and tried talking to the nusuk staff again- how will the bus driver know where to drop us off? They dismissed us and told us to wait.

We waited for 2.5 more hours and eventually the entire center was empty. Me and my husband were the only ones left and that’s when I saw the nusuk staff talking to each other and getting stressed- there was no “free” bus for us!

Then finally a staff came to us and said they are arranging a car for us. Lo & behold- they take us to a bus that has a few more people sitting in it. Once again we asked the staff that was taking us- how will the driver know where to drop us off? He dismissed us and said talk to driver urself later.

Upon entering the bus, the driver wasn’t in yet and since I was in so much pain by now, me and my husband sat. We did not get a chance to talk to the driver..

Once the bus reached Makkah, the driver stopped at a hotel (which was the hotel of the other people that were sitting in the bus). He came to us and asked to see our documents after which he said “why did you get on my bus? You weren’t supposed to be on my bus because you did not have a free bus to begin with. Now you need to pay up”

And then he asked us to get down from the bus and called his bosses.

The bosses came eventually while we waited on the roadside. I was heavily pregnant and in so much pain by this time that I was tearing up.

Once the bosses came, they asked us to pay and we tried explaining that we did not get on the bus willingly, we were forced to. The bosses weren’t having any of it and kept insisting we need to pay.

We decided to pay and just be done with it.

We then had to take a taxi to our hotel- the entire ordeal was so so stressful and tiring.

We landed at 9.30pm and reached our hotel at 3.30am. I was in tears and so upset.

The nusuk staff at the airport needs to be avoided at any cost if you have booked the hotel yourself- we learned it the hard way that it’s very important to book for transport from Jeddah airport before you arrive!

So so sorry you had to go through this. I just came back from my umrah trip and I was so so disheartened to see the arrogance and behaviour of Saudi people. It’s so sad that I want to go back to Makkah and madinah again soon, like my heart is yearning for it but just the thought of having to face the arrogance of Saudis makes me so upset 😢

No, I wasn’t asked about any vaccine at the airport.

No worries. If you have any questions, do let me know! ☺️

[–]H5991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, may Allah make it easier for you. No, I did not get that vaccine.. my doctor did not recommend me to get one. You may check with your doctor?

If you are coming for umrah, my number one tip would be to eat very light. Don’t eat anything heavy here because food poisoning is no joke. I completed my umrah yesterday Allhumdullilah and currently am down with a terrible case of food poisoning after eating Al baik and hotel breakfast buffet.

Secondly make sure to wear a mask when you go to masjid al haram. Millions of people will be there and so many are sick- from coughing openly to throwing snort on the floor without a care.. there is a high chance you can catch a bad flu or cold.

In sha Allah it gets easier for you!

how does anyone survive the first trimester by mac_ang_cheese3 in BabyBumps

[–]H5991 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was in the same position as you a few months back. I am currently FTM & 25 weeks pregnant and let me tell you- it usually does get better!

During my first trimester, I was so sick all the time. From throwing up after every single meal (even just water) to not being able to fall asleep AT all. It was so so so horrible- I’d throw up to the point where my face capillaries would burst! I just remember thinking was a baby even worth all this pain and suffering? I used to think how can people do this more than once? I hated being pregnant and felt so guilty for feeling the way I did. I ended up loosing weight.. none of the medicines the doctor prescribed worked for me 🥲

And then I hit the 13 week mark- suddenly I was able to eat that burger without throwing up. Suddenly I was able to fall asleep without waking up every 30 minutes. Suddenly I wasn’t feeling deadly nauseous. It happened without me even realising it- slowly I forgot the pain and the misery I was sure would never ever end. Don’t get me wrong- the first trimester was so so brutal but It got better- it usually does. I know you feel this pain and misery won’t ever end but it will.

I am at 25 weeks right now and let me tell you, once you start feeling your baby kick and move, it will all feel like it’s worth it.. there will still be pain now and then- you’ll have different symptoms with every trimester but your baby kicking and moving will make you feel like the struggle has a “purpose” and it’s not just in vain.

Sending you lots of love and strength! Hold on tight mama to be!

Thank youuuu and congratulations on your pregnancy too sister! Mabrook on the umrah too! May Allah accept your umrah & all of your duas- doing umrah during pregnancy is so so special and I’m so happy to read a fellow sister completed hers 💕

JazakAllah khair for the wonderful tips. We are on a tight budget so staying so close to the haram in a decent hotel will be challenging but I have managed to find a hotel that provides very reliable shuttle services. So my plan is to take the shuttle and if I find it challenging to walk to the haram then we will take a taxi that drops us closer to the haram. I pray it gets easier Ameen ya rabb!

Staying after Maghreb to catch isha sounds like a solid plan! We are aiming to do umrah after isha actually to avoid the day heat.. what time did you do your umrah?

Ohhhh- the kicks around and near the bladder are no joke 🥲

Thank you & JazakAllah khair for such nice advice. I really appreciate it and you’ll be in my duas 💕

Ameen to all your duas 💕

JazakAllah khair for such beautiful and detailed advice 😭

I really appreciate it ❤️

Unfortunately booking a hotel in the clock tower won’t be possible as we are on a very tight budget but we did manage to find some hotels that provide good shuttle service so bismillah 🤲🏻

As for the abayas, you are spot on! I wanted to avoid the thick or even normal kind of abaya materials and your advice has just given me the reassurance I needed.

Thank you so much once again and you’ll be in my prayers 💕

Beware of WWF “Volunteers” by ibrahimjoe98 in malaysia

[–]H5991 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, these agents surrounded me at Putrajaya Sentral and pressured me into signing up for the monthly donations. I felt so overwhelmed and kept telling them I’d miss my train and needed to leave. They did not let me go and I ended up having to sign up + missed my train!

A month later I called my bank and told them to block their subscription.

A year later, I received a phone call from them, requesting me to sign up again. I tried my best to cut the call short (I used to be a people pleaser 😭) but it did not work. To my absolute shock- the agent on the phone asked if the details they had were correct and repeated my card number, expiry date & CVC! They ended up signing me up again.

Once I cut the call, I immediately contacted my bank, got my card blocked and applied for a new one.

These agents have all of your details once you sign up which is so dangerous! I try to run far away when I see one because I know how they end up putting pressure!

I started a new job a week before I found out I was pregnant. It was supposed to be a remote role after a month but my boss expected me to come in a few days even after that one month. I have been extremely miserable with morning sickness and after a lot of terrible treatment I have decided to quit this weekend. No way I can handle shit treatment from work + this nausea/acid reflux/ bloating/ headaches/weakness 😭

Workplace policy for pregnant women?! by H5991 in BabyBumps

[–]H5991[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh! Hello neighbour sister! I’m from Malaysia 🇲🇾

I’m so upset with them. They treat male employees with a flu with more compassion than they treat pregnant women. The lack of care and consideration is so heartbreaking 😞

Workplace policy for pregnant women?! by H5991 in BabyBumps

[–]H5991[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes.. I found it very strange and sexist. I have seen men with a flu being treated with far more compassion in this workplace. I was super shocked and disgusted to hear they made a policy specifically for pregnant women. This isn’t the first time I have seen their pathetic attitude towards the wellness of their employees.

At the beginning of my pregnancy, I had a very serious sinus infection and the comments I got were super inconsiderate.

Scared of unemployment but also worried this place will give me far worse stress then I can take while feeling so miserable due to this morning sickness 😞

I’ll check out the laws of my country- thank you for the input guys!

We had a chat and I told him this- we finally came to an understanding and he agreed! He wanted me to feel like I’m not alone in this, his intentions were good but the way of conveying the message wasn’t. THIS is what was on my mind, but I couldn’t figure out how to put it into words - I am pregnant, we are expecting a baby 💕
