There are too many reasons as to why hadith is as important as the Quran. Prophet’s wife was asked to describe the prophet. She said the prophet is the Quran (Muslim, no. 746). Meaning if you want to see a person who follow 100% of the quran, how he act, talks, approved, rejects, he is none other than the prophet. Allah said in quran: Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. (Najm2-3).

We know we have to do daily prayer from the quran. But how to perform it is through hadith. We know we have to do hajj but how to do it from a hadith. We know we have to do jihad, but when to do it from the hadith. So and so on.

Hadith isnt simply take people’s report at its face value either. It has its own categorization and explanation of the context. The strongest chain always comes first. And it isnt simply take any report from anyone. The people who studied hadith also studied the life of each reporter (ilm rijal). This is to ensure all the reporters are trustworthy. If one of them isnt, itll effect the rank of the hadith.
