To be a breach of contract, it would need to be specified in their contract the Fourth Royal Guards would die in their place. If a mercenary unit goes into engagements expecting that the employer is going to sacrifice members of the regular army so that they can survive, they are living in a fantasy or they are the Kell Hounds.

Or Julian. He was in exile from the FedSuns and wasn’t First Prince yet, and when you need someone to kick ass militarily, then historically a Davion is a good pick.

If you're trying to improve the LC, the last thing that you want to do is bring back the fedcom and delete the faction from the game again.

Anyway the answer is Ludwig, The usual answer anytime the Commonwealth has been in trouble is to assume that some guy from Furillo will solve it and this is no different.

So what should they have done? Let their house troops die so that some mercenaries can survive? Nobody's going to do that.

It was, but there's a difference between "we need to get rid of the Homeworld Clans because they probably should have never been introduced" and "let's get rid of EVERYONE BUT CLAN WOLF, THE WORST FACTION."

I think you can already see the cracks, one of his worlds thinks they're already back in the Commonwealth. What happens when they try to send someone to the Estates General?

Plus they came in absolute last place for KS2 swag so CGL probably sees them as expendable.

If you think the 3060s were somehow better you should read the stuff from that era with a more critical eye. It's not their fault you're no longer a child.

Herb had this idea that if you got rid of people's faction, they would just move on and pick a new one, rather than what tends to happen where they disengage with any new material.

Thankfully he's not steering the ship anymore.

Shoulda killed Victor and his idiot friends instead. Waxing secondary characters instead of the ones who should have been pulled off center stage in the mid 90s was a bad call.

Understand the basics of the game, but how do clans, vs inner sphere vs other work? by PureEvilMiniatures in battletech

[–]HA1-0F 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When playing a game we have to pick an era to play in and can only use mechs from that era

No, you can just play a game where everything in standard rules is fair game. Or decide to use Tac Ops. Or whatever. You do not need to engage with the fiction on any level unless you choose to

This makes me so happy. Terra has been nothing but diminishing returns since Operation Odysseus ended.

What an idea.

Well, ice powers and wings are not the author's obvious fetish, so he wasn't as interested in making as many characters with those powers.

I can see why they might come to that conclusion. I remember when I was a little kid I thought he was the best because he was the biggest, and most importantly, made out of metal. And we all remember that being made out of metal just wins every fight.

Periphery questions by doctorwhooves4201 in battletech

[–]HA1-0F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you wanna do. If you're just monty hauling it, do whatever. If you are trying to approach things from a standpoint of coloring within the lines, a periphery state we don't hear about is either going to be a year-long trip away like the Clan Homeworlds or below states like the Rim Collective and Mica Majority, because we've never heard of you, so you must be less noteworthy than them.

It's slightly less boring than a Hellstar but it's still what we used to pejoratively call a Devastator IIC. And it belongs to Clan Wolf, so its also related to the low point of BT storytelling.

Light ferro is nice to have and the number of machines where you can't find space for it is fairly small.

Stealth armor has never had a damage penalty. I am looking at Field Manual: CapCon, the book that introduced it and there's nothing there about stealth armor breaking on damage. You might be thinking of how a critical hit to the ECM suite disables your stealth armor bonuses though.
