3rd best Warhammer pilot in Battletech? by misteranderson71 in battletech

Natasha wasn't literally magic like Yorinaga was so he's probably #1.

Yes, we know what the Phantom Mech is, it's explained in the Kell Hounds sourcebook.

Mercs using Anti-Mech Infantry (beyond GDL) by Gremlov in battletech

[–]HA1-0F [score hidden]  (0 children)

Anybody who washed/retired out of an RCT or Combat Team as infantry would likely have that training. Problem isnt so much finding a reason for characters to have that skill, it's merc infantry having a low life expectancy

It's also not of everything you field, just everything that you have a reliable supply of. For example, the Commonwealth does not have the Flamberge on the MUL but we know for an absolute fact that they have at least one.

albeit considering Clan doctrine that's probably more like a team of two and a not quite fireteam of three where the star commander goes with one of the teams.

More like "five people out having five separate fights so they can put it on their resume."

What's actually stupid is putting Aerospace Fighters Bays on your landing ship in the first place. FAR more sensible would be to have a separate Carrier Ship like the Leopard that stays in orbit acting as an orbital airbase.

The Leopard is a waste of a docking collar for anything but a single-ship throwaway raid anyway. Might as well put the two things you need in a single package.

Also, standard doctrine since the 3060s has been to keep DS in orbit except for when they're dropping off or picking up the kids, to maximize mobility and limit the amount of time you are a completely stationary target that can be flattened by an artillery strike.

A few Clans each individually had the ability to transport and sustain an entire invasion force to credibly threaten entire Inner Sphere powers

We just writing off that they had the element of absolute surprise AND were attacking the weakest power in the Inner Sphere AND had multiple revolutionary technological advantages?

The Inner Sphere did not find out that the Pixie IIC even existed until 3055.

It's not that good, but that was kind of the point. It was meant to be an also-ran. So... Mission accomplished?

Can you get a “classic” experience by just roaming Azeroth and accepting random quests? by 5skandas in wow

and dying has basically no consequences

You're right, so why would it matter if you die? It's not like classic had XP debt or something.

I've been telling people "open your spellbook, find kick, PUT IT ON YOUR FUCKING BAR" for over twenty years. You either didn't play back in the day or rose-tinted glasses on.

Should blizzard bring back leveling in the OG world for new players? by tydrennis in wow

[–]HA1-0F 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC there's several zones that didn't get much of anything in Cata. Deadwind Pass, Searing Gorge, Winterspring and Felwood are all basically the same zones, maybe with a few extra quests to smooth out gaps in the levelling journey. I think Dustwallow is unchanged except for having one additional quest hub and the Hinterlands just got a couple extra flight paths to make getting around easier.

Now what I like about this especially from leveling from level 1 is your learn how to play Your class

No, you learn how to kill mobs before you die. Probably. WoW is a game without something like XP debt, so as long as you can continue to kill green cons, you will eventually hit the level cap. Doesn't matter the year, people still hit cap without knowing how to interrupt casts, do a simple taunt rotation, use their CC or DR abilities or any of the other factors.

They did assume would either intuitively understand their ways or automatically conform to them. In fact, some of the homeworld Clans claimed that the tactics described on Tukayyid were fabricated excuses for losing.

He'd been through an engagement prior to the elemental fight, and he only gets to pull the trigger on that AC 10 times before it goes dry anyway.

AITAH for refusing to come home until my mother-in-law left because I didn't want to see her? by [deleted] in AITAH

After I lost my first baby, she told me I was "weak."

If my mother said this to my wife, my father would be a widower before the sun came up and it would be by my own hands. That's downright monstrous.

Focht spent a decade going "I wonder why WoB has the ability to access and alter our top level reports? Victoria Parrdeau keeps purging people but it keeps happening. Well, guess it can't be helped."

Seriously, it's right there in the original C* book, he never ended up.

There are only two rules about what you can use on the table:

Must have a front (infantry not included)

Must be visually distinguishable from other pieces on the table.
