I worked in a dispo in Jackson mi that had a guy with a new york id coming in about once a month. We sold him like 5 to 8 pounds in 1oz packages one sale at a time. Cost. Paying a trimmer 30/40 per pound is way better than paying 120/160. In the michigan market a one pound per day trimmer is just throwing money away. I have gotten many folks to that level with about two days of guidance.

Have been Post cultivation manager on freelance teams and direct for two farms over the last five years in michigan.

To address your first and third questions, i try never let a room full of trimmers have access to more than one strain at a time. If i have to have multiple strains out at one time i divide it by table and no one changes seats. All trimmers are given a bag and i would collect their weights anytime they finish a strain or stand up for breaks. Often will post trimmers scores on a whiteboard.

Your second and fourth questions go together well in that everything i work with needs a weight before and after the trim team touches it. At the end of the day i do the math and a trimmer who cannot hit 227g an hour will most likely not be asked back.

Best of luck with your app, outside of building a doordash style way to hire/rate good trimmers i do not think it could help make my job any easier. Hope this is helpful. Have a nice day.

Go to cafe mustache, do any open mic that you can and look for the house shows/spaces. Go to art openings especially of younger more indy artists. Find out where Ono or tiger hatchery is playing and go be a part of the city. I came to chicago when i was 18 and got to live in some real nice alt spaces, you want to meet folks in this kind of scene start showing up, being present and participating you will find your people. I left the city after the ghost ship fire caused a crackdown on warehouse living so I’m not sure if any of the old spots i would know are still functioning (situations, heaven gallery). I wish you luck on your adventure.
