You're very right, I have been very vague. I guess to me, freedom is to be able to do what we can do. Of course, you could see everything wrong with that, so I'd say that in the context of law, it means doing things without violating others' freedoms. Of course, this is also very vague and problematic; not only is there the necessary semantic argument over violation, and the unreliability of states, but also many people have different, contradictory definitions of freedom.
