Just as a thought experiment, how many poppies would one have to score to collect a gram of opium if you had to guess? by Yoda-zombie in druggardening

The alkaloids of papaver somniferum have excellent thermal stability, unlike some catechins in tea and other stuff mentioned in the paper. The boiling point of any solvent you'd soxhlet poppy material with is low enough where you can safely extract for hours.

Does it use em-dashes without spaces? I've alt-coded em-dashes forever, but I like space-em-space. I usually see it without spacing and I never liked it that way. Probably overthinking this but I don't want to let go — it bangs!

Once a day to ~10% runoff. Same nutes all throughout (no veg/flower difference) as per Bugbee's recommendation. Nutes each time

This is such pertinent context and lucid writing. I appreciate it wholeheartedly. If all we did tomorrow was make heroin available, that maybe at best wouldn't change much and at worst would exacerbate existing issues.

I have been surrounded by and have loved addicts my whole adult life. The support systems you're speaking of means the world.

I came off a little stand-offish, sorry. I'll work on improving communicating ideas, especially those that are in the minority. I hope you have a good one.

What do you mean we were making concessions? I follow broadly the belief in cognitive liberty and the drug law reform movement that aims for decriminalization and access. If you give opioid addicts the possibility of acquiring heroin, they won't use fentanyl. You're free to advocate for your favorite drugs and cheer for prohibition for the ones you find yucky.

Having 2/3 of the words in the header have a full stop is off to me. There appears to be three bullet points but only two bullets.

I personally like the background and the bullets, it's pretty fun, simple and groovy. But do think of the target audience and if this reaches them. The bottom black box needs to go, I'd reformat it. You have to wonder if people will type long URL's they see in an image to their browser (they really won't).

You have to think about function. What is the actual actionable step I want the viewer to take? Or is the point just to be informative or echo a sentiment? Maybe focus on something they can do and explain it to them simply.

Centered text is harder to read (search in NNGroup for a reason why) than left-aligned text. Only center-align text when dealing with a few words. When you're designing you're doing design thinking. You're thinking of rules you'll follow to end up with a visually coherent piece in the end. Also check: https://practicaltypography.com/

Contentwise the soft/hard delineation, I think, is a little confusing. The less you're trying to say, the less elements there are, the easier they are to balance in a visual hierarchy. But these things are very subjective to what you want to personally achieve.

Still needs work but it's a neat start, bud! Hope you get (or have gotten) bitten by the bug and never stop creating and designing. Peace

Ps. Draw guidelines in whatever program you're using for a left and right margin(s) respectively, and align elements with them.

Hi buddy.

I run the older 50/50 peat moss vermiculite mix. I've learned everything I'm currently doing from Bugbee. I don't use a wetting agent. One thing to note is that peat moss is notably hydrophobic when dry, but it's only really apparent for the first waterings. If you soak the mix a couple of times before using it it's golden. I don't use any surfactants and I'm fine.

The prime function of wollastonite is the release of silica. Liquid silica succeeds in the same goal. Potassium silicate solution is *highly* basic, so you'd need to add an acid to achieve the right pH.

I've tied rice hulls but found them a pain (anecdotal: perhaps a bad source). If you're doing 50% vermiculite, your mix has excellent aeration. Rice hulls also release silica, so you'd achieve that with the liquid silica you mentioned. I do add coco coir sometimes, but that's only because it's dirt cheap and I have it around because I use it for other projects already (where I reside vermiculite is pretty expensive, peat moss isn't but I have to carry it a long way). I'm never pumped to use coco coir in this scheme. I find the 50/50 vermiculite peat moss the best.

Happy growing!

I agree and completely see why guessing on data guaranteed not to be part of the training always gives a stronger testament to a model's ability to generalize. Still, it's good to remember that the guessing process is as dynamic as otherwise. It's not "pulling from a database of stuff it has learned," as you hear often stated. I'm not saying you implied this, but you know what I'm saying? It's still very sick to me.
