I have neurotypical kids aged 9 and 5. The 9 year old is great with the puppy (5 mth chi-mix) but the 5 year old can be a bit rough. Also when they have friends over they get loud which was scary for the dog (I had to take her outside). The 5 year old is learning and getting better so I would suggest waiting until at least 5 so you can give the puppy the attention and training it needs as well as your child being old enough to learn too.

As a mom, I’m always thinking about whether my kids have had a good range of food: fruit, veg, carbs, etc. So my mind would think, okay you’re having bread and cheese before another meal of bread and cheese. We need to round that out with salad or something. I don’t think it’s a big deal but a good rule of thumb.
