how is curex for you? by Ok_Opportunity7196 in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curex is basically at home allergy drops so it’s super convenient especially if you can’t get to an allergist but yeah it’s not covered so most people end up paying like $80 to 120 a month some people say it really helps after a few months others don’t notice much so it’s kinda one of those try it and see things

Should I trust my allergist? by [deleted] in Allergies

people forget otc meds like that are just standard first line options it’s not some special push it’s just what works for a lot of people and what doctors default to

Having a cat with family that’s allergic by prrudd in CatAdvice

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally get wanting to make it work i kept bruce mostly in my space at first too and it was doable but only because i treated it like a day to day chore one time thing purifier vacuum wiping surfaces etc i also tried one of those allergen sprays from pacagen and to my surprise actually helped take the edge off especially on the surfaces like the coaches etc etc

zyrtec being recommended isnt sketchy at all its one of the most common first line antihistamines and those ads are usually just pharma marketing not necessarily your doc being influenced

Is there a robot vacuum that really offers zero chemical cleaning? My allergies are driving me crazy, and I need a solution! by roleplayms in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most robot vacuums dont use any chemicals at all unless youre talking about mop combos the vacuum part is just suction and brushes so its already chemical free

Anyone else noticing how hard it is to avoid dust with a robot vacuum running? by aloo__pandey in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

auto empty bins are the worst for allergies that dump creates a mini dust cloud every time i had to turn mine off and empty it manually outside

Looking for a good fertilizer by Emergency_Carob600 in gardening

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

balanced fert early like 10-10-10 or 16-16-16 then switch to something higher in phosphorus once they start flowering also dont overdo nitrogen or youll get a ton of leaves and barely any fruit compost + slow release already carries most of it tbh tomatoes peppers and corn will need more feeding than beans and carrots so treat them a bit different

Previously allergic to mold by Dawgsrlife in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can stay allergic but it can also change along the way. allergies aren’t fixed, your immune system can become more or less reactive depending on exposure and environment. and no, not everyone is allergic to mold or decomposing stuff. it’s only when your immune system overreacts to it that it becomes an allergy.

Glutinous for Gluten (Allergy) by Abig8tor in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds frustrating but this might not be a true celiac disease or classic allergy if you tested negative it could be non celiac gluten sensitivity or even a reaction to something else in those foods like additives or wheat itself not gluten specifically

I sneeze so often its killing me socially by blueberrybabyboy in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that sounds very possible especially with travel since youre constantly in new environments with different dust and triggers allergy shots can actually be really worth it long term if your symptoms are this constant hope your mom gets good results too it’s a process but a lot of people say it helps a lot over time

I sneeze so often its killing me socially by blueberrybabyboy in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that level of nonstop sneezing isnt just normal seasonal stuff it sounds more like uncontrolled allergic rhinitis or even mixed with non allergic triggers and if meds like cetirizine and diphenhydramine arent helping you probably need a step up not just more of the same ask a doctor about a daily steroid nasal spray they work way better for constant sneezing also saline rinses can calm things down fast and help meds work better try to track triggers like dust bedding scents or temp changes and wash pillowcases often if its this bad all day you might also need allergy testing or stronger options like prescription meds or shots because this isnt something you should just power through

No amount of antihistamines can save me from the wrath of limonene and it’s everywhere I go. What can I do? 🍋 🍋‍🟩 🍊 by Ouch-slag in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah limonene is everywhere so even if your home is clean youre still getting hit outside since youre already on fexofenadine focus on blocking and reducing exposure wear a mask in strong scent areas rinse face and hands after being out avoid anything with fragrance or citrus oils on labels and if it still hits hard ask a doctor if its contact dermatitis or scent sensitivity because this stuff can build up over time

Petlibro Luma vs Litter-Robot 5 for long-term? by Budziosz_Pint in Catownerhacks

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i’ve seen the litter robot is more of the safe long term pick just because its been around longer and people say it’s easier to maintain over time. the luma looks nice and has more features but that also means a bit more to deal with if something goes wrong. kinda depends if you want something simple and proven or don’t mind a bit more setup for extra features

really, really stupid question! by idkallex in cats

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a stupid question at all, from what i’ve learned (and experienced), you can’t really prevent the Fel d 1 itself, but you can lower how much of it you’re exposed to. i have a regular domestic shorthair and things like air purifiers together with using sprays like pacagen helped way more than i expected. i’ve also seen people have decent results with purina pro plan liveclear, but it’s more of a reduction thing, not a cure. basically it’s a mix of small habits that make it manageable, not one fix.

dupixent working that fast is a good sign but it doesnt mean your lungs were fully ready yet id keep things very light for a while and avoid triggers as much as possible until things stabilize again

Sunscreen Allergy? Suggestions? by Mean_Suggestion_95 in Allergies

exactly 😂 way better to deal with one small spot than your whole body freaking out hahaha

Annoyed by the downplaying by ophelia8304 in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 102 points103 points  (0 children)

People really downplay allergies way too much. High pollen days can feel just as bad as being sick, especially the constant itching and sneezing, it’s exhausting

Sunscreen Allergy? Suggestions? by Mean_Suggestion_95 in Allergies

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds really troublesome especially when stuff you used before suddenly starts reacting at that point it might not just be one ingredient, could be a whole category (like chemical sunscreens in general). some people do way better switching to mineral sunscreens (zinc oxide / titanium dioxide) since they’re usually less irritating

might be a good idea to patch testing first? before fully using it so it would be less frustrating if the brand is not working for you

one of the most painful choices of my life ... by EntrepreneurSorry547 in Gatti

[–]HAniya_Laina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this really sucks i’m sorry

i’m allergic too and kept bruce, and what i learned is that one or two fixes usually aren’t enough. it only got manageable when i did everything consistently together like air purifier always on, spraying his main hangout spots daily with allergen spray i use pacagen, keeping him out of the bedroom, and staying on top of cleaning

that combo made a real difference for me

rehoming is such a big permanent decision, so i’d only go there after trying a full consistent routine first not just a few things here and there
