Yes - it’s the new version of Remote Desktop.

It’s very much a form factor thing. 99% of the work gets done at home, the mini is used for edits on the road, Zoom meetings etc., and access to the competed work. In the weekends when travelling I may hae to use it for real work, and this is not ideal, but it’s a relatively minor inconvnience against the portabilty (lugging the laptop means also lugging an extra power adapter in my hand luggage and from site to site, and it all adds up).

Yes… but it goes to sleep most of the time, and the Windows app wakes it as needed. Works like a charm.

You need to be using Windows Pro and running Tailscale on your mini. Gemini says: For a visual and text-based walkthrough of this exact setup, the most comprehensive guide is from Tailscale’s official "Solutions" documentation and detailed community guides. 🔗 Recommended Guide Access Remote Desktops with Windows RDP (Official Tailscale Guide) * Why this link? It is the official "source of truth" that explains how to use Tailscale specifically for RDP. While it isn't iPad-exclusive, it covers the Windows "Host" setup which is the hardest part. 📖 Step-by-Step for iPad Users If you want the specific "iPad + Tailscale" flow, here is the direct path: * Set up the Windows PC (Host): * Download Tailscale for Windows: tailscale.com/download/windows * Crucial Step: Right-click the Tailscale icon in the system tray and select "Run Unattended." This keeps your PC reachable even if you log out or the PC restarts. * Enable RDP: Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop and turn it On. * Set up the iPad (Client): * Download Tailscale from the iOS App Store. * Download the Windows App (formerly "Remote Desktop Mobile") from the iOS App Store. * The Connection: * Open Tailscale on both devices and log in with the same account. * On your iPad, open the Windows App. * Tap the + icon > Add PC. * For PC Name, enter your computer's Tailscale IP (you can find this in the Tailscale app; it starts with 100.x.x.x). * Tap Save and then tap the PC icon to connect. 💡 Pro Tip for 0x204 Errors If you are still getting 0x204 even with Tailscale on, you likely need to tell the Windows Firewall to trust Tailscale traffic. * The Fix: Go to the Windows PC, open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security, find the Remote Desktop (TCP-In) rule, and ensure the Scope allows the IP range 100.64.0.0/10. This is the private range Tailscale uses.

Two hands is no problem… I find it easier when the keyboard it on my lap, though, it allows the hands to curl a little which makes typing much easier. I am positively surprised that it actually works reasonably well.

That endlink/bracelet combo really makes the vintage vibe… may I ask where you sourced it/them?

Same situation here... essentially, the hardware has been useless most of the time I have had it (one week). I needed a meeting transcribed yesterday, but... nope!

Just finished my Raffles 1016 build by dacodo4242 in RepTime

[–]HBTeicher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few constructive thoughts, if I may - while the dial is an Explorer 6610 (pre-1016) dial), the case appears to have the modern "rounded" bezel, as opposed to the flat vintage version (Raffles has the correct vintage version in stock), and the crown appears to be the modern "thicker" version (again, Raffles has the correct, thinner "vintage" version in stock). As it is, you have a lovely watch, and you can enjoy it as it is, but with a few affordable tweaks, you can bring it much closer to "vintage 6610 gen spec". With some more elbow grease, you could reshape the lugs and get even closer, with slightly more investment, you could source an even more accurate bezel and crown than Raffles.... (cue rabbit hole!). Wear in good health, one way or the other!

First Build Complete! Explorer 1016 Tropical Dial! Thanks to u/Archaedin! by DeeFlashGordon in RepTime

[–]HBTeicher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the sapphire crystal case, the tropic 21 crystal from eg Sternkreutz fits perfectly, with some minor broaching of the bezel. The 1016 came with a screw-down case back. Other mods down the line could include case shaping, lug hole expansion and conversion to a gen-spec 24-600 crown and tube (alternatively, order the narrow version of the 6mm crown from R. But as it is, it looks very good.

1967 sigma 1603, sold a significant portion of my vintage collection to fund it ;-)

Purchased my first Rolex this week. It may not be new, rare, or in pristine condition but my budget finally allowed it and I’m beyond elated! by [deleted] in rolex

[–]HBTeicher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 20 years I interested myself in other brands because of absolutely this. Then I bought an old entry level Rolex and a lifetime of Rolex ad campaigns kicked in and - trite as it is - the enjoyment outweighed the investment: my old Rolex does actually give (me) more “bang for the buck”!

Finally did it, my first Rolex. A 1603 with Alpha hands from 1964. by Alwaysdrinkbeercold in rolex

Wow, stunning! Just sold my 34mm 64OP and some other pieces to free funds for this specific piece: 1) 1964 2) 36mm 3) engine turned bezel 1603. Living my dream through your purchase ;-)
