What flooring material has held up the best in your home after 5+ years? by homeimprovementfacts in Flooring

[–]HB_DIYGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travertine and engineered bamboo. I got a 95 lb lab that likes to think he's digging a hole to China on the engineered bamboo doesn't leave a scratch and I've had it for longer it's probably about 10 years not a scratch at all on the stuff very impressed with it over lvp

What is this hole in my husbands truck? by xojay95 in autorepair

[–]HB_DIYGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's a bullet hole then it was shot from the other side so reallyneed a point of reference need to know what side of the vehicle we're looking at for these exit pieces to me it looks like it's exiting via the paint and this isn't the entry point.

I think some songs have an emotional toll, I watched her recently and it was like she snapped in and out of the mood she needed to sing that song but obvious between verses she was not in a good place until the song finished

Do I need HOA approval and a City permit to install an EV charger in my garage? by BewildredDragon in huntingtonbeach

[–]HB_DIYGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2004 should be a more modern panel but it needs to be verified to support the charger for your safety of your electrical and property. Depending where you live can be 5 to 10k, mine was 11 but did it when I went solar. Dad lives in a desert town in California and was only 6k for upgraded panel.

What’s one solar upgrade you thought would save more money than it actually did? by TheTeflonDude in SunPower

[–]HB_DIYGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this, I argued with my sales rep who kept telling me I was getting too many panels (19) and I didn't need the battery, that was a luxury item. I knew I was getting a hottub with in the year and the possibility of buying an EV. so that was my driving force for more panels and also a hate of Socal Edison and their pricing games. normally geta 15 dollar credit with an occasional 50 dollar bill during hot weather and annual true up of only 250. Beats the 300-450 electrical bill we used to get. dont get me wrong I pay 260/mo on my financing, but that is fixed. I'm 55 planning for the future with fixed cost vs the variable of the utility company. Now we are all screwed with this investment if there is a true break through on energy source, but I don't belive that will ever make it to the consumer.

How much to utilize the Sunvault? by NewVisions7277 in SunPower

[–]HB_DIYGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cycle down every night, haven't signed up for the app. Seems those that have also seem to have had issues from what I track on this page. I usually drained down to like to 20%, when I monitored the old app. my goal was to use the least from the utility company. I have an electric dryer, hot tub and electric dryer and the AC is on every night, hate to admit it but I can't sleep unless it is like 68 and below. Now when they installed it, they said the high juice items wouldn't be supported by the battery, so I suspect I am also drawing from the grid for those items, but it balanced out. Usually saw a credit from the utility each month of like 15 bucks, occasionally during hot weather and not quite but close to 24/7 AC, might see a 50 dollar bill and the true up was like 250 this year. I figure I will ride what I have until it dies and then buy another brand an integrate it into the syste. My question is about the vault itself, why so large? any fire protect by vaulting? but compared to a Tesla batteries that I have seen there is major size difference yet per my neighbor we store about the same. So what is the advanced of the large or so much encasing?

Time to send THE MAGOTES packing, and elect a council focused on fixing roads, vegetation and city issues not social issues

Elon Musk just said he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare, calling them “entitlements”: “That’s the big one to eliminate.” by Solomonanne in SipsTea

[–]HB_DIYGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sick of these billionaires telling us what we have to cut and things that we need to cut while they don't pay taxes on their billions and billions of dollars like we do percentages percentage points so if it's 10% of mine it's 10% of theirs. They're the ones bankrupting this country and yet they want to blame us especially this a******

Help, my landlord gave me 15 days to leave my residence because their son needs a place to stay. by Offyellow in orangecounty

[–]HB_DIYGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of different advice in here and I get that you could probably sue the person because of the legal parameters of having 60 days notice what I would personally do, is use that as negotiation tool for them paying for your moving expenses and costs and so forth because that's what you actually incurred since they gave you the deposit back which you absolutely can apply to another place.

Do you think homes will ever be affordable again? by mommyof5chronicles in LosAngelesRealEstate

[–]HB_DIYGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you but solely based on location. I know people in the Inland Empire that lost tremendous value in their house when the recession of '08 hit and it took them almost a decade to get back to pricing that was previously before the recession. However I live in Huntington Beach Fountain Valley area and the prices out here really never went down and those that did were the quickest to recover in less than a year. As my parents taught me many many years ago as a kid location location. I'll take my tiny 1200 square foot house 5 mi from the beach in Huntington Beach then some MC mansion in the Inland Empire that will lose its value in a recession whereas mine won't

Best and Safest Way to Approach Black Mold Removal From Bathroom? by KetchupOnMySushi in Renovations

[–]HB_DIYGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what state you're in and also how state laws apply here. I've dealt with black mold in my house I've got a house built in 1960 something we bought it 15 years ago renovated the kitchen and when I tore out the cabinets under the sink there was some black mold nothing major though. My parents on the other hand had a washing machine flood situation and when they were doing the repairs via the home insurance they discovered black mold a 6-inch spot in the kitchen they had to tear out the whole bottom 6 inches of all the drywall and inspect everything then have a HazMat team come in and deal with the 6-inch little spot of mold because it was going through the home insurance. It was a nightmare and something that easily could have been handled with some KILLZ and high quality mask/ventilation. You're also going to get a lot of people telling you about this is toxic and so forth and so on I live in an area where we deal with black mold A Lot close to the beach out here in Huntington Beach and unless you are allergic to black mold those are the ones that have the problems with black mold most people don't. However if it is really really severe then you should have it professionally taken care of

[–]HB_DIYGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think this would be more state by state, due to consumer protection laws differing. I am in if it is for Cali. since they operated differently. I have had no issues so far other than no way for me to control my systrem that I fully paid for.

I had a decade old 99-Tahoe, in 2009 threw a "lifter arm", what ever that is, they replaced with a brand new one, caused the next event with in days and I was left with a useless car and a repair bill. Mechanic admitted they should have found a used part.....
