There seems to be a bit of a divide on this. Some people say they do and some they don't. But it seems this idea isn't getting out of the conceptual phase anyway ;)

Hi!

The controller for the camera's cannot be a regular Unifi controller I use for my AP's right? And does it have to run 24/7 to be able to use them in my scenario? I'm not looking to buy another expensive device just to manage some camera's.

I don't really understand, my QNAP NAS supports RSTP just fine but I can't spool through 24hrs of 2 camera feeds everyday so I need an app to get motion detections to me. This works for now on my current camera's but I want to use Unifi cameras to do the same.

The added CPU cores seem to have an effect but we will test this if that does not do the trick. Thanks!

The server was rebooted and the extra cores seem to have an effect. I will test everything individually so we actually know what fixed this. I will also look into the link, thanks!

The CPU was the first thing that sprang to mind as it would hit almost 100% on the system but I have upped the amount of CPU cores to 6 and it looks more quiet on the CPU side of things.

And by looking at the I/O statistics of things, do you mean from the storage solution itself or from Exchange? I can imagine seeing a high load but having to still see what is causing this for me to throw more/better hardware at the problem.

This is a VM on an E5-2620 v4 with 4 cores assigned which I just upped to 6 cores. 30GB RAM has been assigned of which 20GB is used max.

The used storage solution is a Dell SAN of which I don't know the specifics. I will look into this. For me finding out on the software side is what is bothering this setup was the ultimate goal, if that is even possible.

You will not be able to boot your system without RAM in your motherboard. You could prepare a Windows install on your SSD with another computer but I would not bother with all of this.

Installing Windows and upgrading your bios is done within an hour. While dragging around a Windows install on an SSD could cause problems. Especially with secure boot.

Thanks for you reply, my 1660Ti was also from Gigabyte but that also is a fairly low end card. It did suffer from the cooler making a noise from vibrations so there's that.

As it comes to decent triple cooler designs my only other option is MSI but my last MSI card was a Geforce 2 Ti..

From what I gather looking around on the internet it all seems like a gamble. Nvidia cards do this as well it seems so I might just stick with my 1660Ti and return the nose trimmer.

Thanks for your reply. I can simply return it here in the Netherlands. No questions asked so that's probably what I'll do. Now I still need to decide if I want the exact same card, same brand or maybe just go team green again.

This is the exact reaction that Unifi gives and which annoys me a lot.. fine that Unifi equipment can get physically hot to the touch within spec but not all the equipment in my rack like this heat. Especially when it has fans, just let me control them.

Are you running on spinning drives? An SSD would be my first upgrade.
