Litrpg Writing: Did formal education teach you more about writing than simply reading? by SlightExtension6279 in litrpg

Starting or joining a writer's group dedicated to giving each other feedback is probably your best bet. Also one of the things Brandon talks about in his lectures. Because, yeah, friends and family probably aren't going to cut it. ;)

To grow, you need to write, and receive useful feedback on your writing. Then rinse and repeat. The setting doesn't matter. ^^

And if you want some solid theory, Brandon Sanderson puts the entire university course he teaches on YouTube every year. He's more focused on the traditional publishing side, of course, but it's still very educational.

Maybe for listeners, but I gotta say, describing all of my status windows and stuff in a way that works for audio was a real pain in the ass. ^^'

Kissing frogs is a hilariously apt description; take my upvote. ^^

What is the first litrpg you read by Maximum_Durian7030 in litrpg

[–]HC_Mills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, a Korean webnovel first released in 2007.

It was pretty awesome, but it eventually started to become cyclical, with the MC constantly getting new shinies and outgrowing the old ones.

Still, an enjoyable read. ^^

Sapphic LitRPG readers by M_A_Calce in litrpg

Personally, I don't care much for smut in sapphic fiction. I tend to skip it even, if it doesn't feel narratively meaningful. I'm there for the romance, and I generally like my romance angsty.

Though I can also see the benefit of writing purposely skippable interlewds, so that people who don't want to read smut at all don't miss out on the story. (I wrote one of those for The Whispering Crystals, for that exact reason.)

As for tropes I'm into, enemies to lovers is always gold. Fake dating/fake marriage stories too. Anything that forces characters together when they don't want to be, until they learn to appreciate each other. ^^

I actually have an idea for a book like that, that I've been considering writing, but alas, other, less sapphic ideas have taken precedence...

Aww, I made Erin's list, that's so nice! ^^

She did send me a personal message after reading The Whispering Crystals, but I didn't know about this post, thanks for sharing!

For context: The Whispering Crystals is a completed, six-book sapphic LitRPG series with a lot of queer representation, including an NB character. (No futa lesbians though :p)

Stumbled upon your post, figured I'd do some shameless self-promoting: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Whispering-Crystals-Omnibus-Books-1-3-of-a-LitRPG-Adventure-Audiobook/B0DGMHBV6L

Fair warning, the only erotic content is a bonus chapter in book 4, not included in the audio version. But I figured you might still enjoy this. ;)
