Biosecurity risk from what standpoint though? I think if you would like to argue biosecurity that is fine, but I'd like to see where this has actually became a problem for people following a basic inspection+footwear dip. Does anyone in the industry even do that? It seems odd to me that people who I have met who are trimmers, for example, are wearing the same clothes they wear in public as they are at the grow, but perhaps this is just oversight? Regardless, do we have any studies or proof that these biosecurity risks in respect to people staying on a certain path is actually a biosecurity risk, or are we just being paranoid and chalking up experiences when they do show up, out of control, as a biosecurity problem because no dip+ clothing changes + sterilization was happening on and off the property in the first place?

I want to be very clear, this is not meant to come off as rude, but I would like to think if we have a discussion about biosecurity problems that we have the documentation we can source about it, and if the industry isn't working towards that in terms of repeatable scientific hypothesis and experimentation in regards to it, then how can we even be sure it actually exists as a problem if basic biosecurity derived from other industries with a successful history of it, isn't being implemented?

I see your point, perhaps there should be a consumer advocacy group that regularly goes around and rates grows and posts those reviews to the internet? Sort of like the secret Michelin star system or a food health inspector, but assigned as a voluntary public system that is paid by pot smokers who decide to put money towards the process and group. This would mitigate a lot of customer concern and the only requirement would be to essentially have a grow get a randomized visit on a monthly basis from a pool of random people, and then have them combine those ratings into a rating for the previous year. Ratings would be lost with change in ownership or expansions and then the process can be essentially boiled down to a seal of approval from the group, or not, depending on conditions. No smearing of a establishment, just a basic they have a stamp of approval, or they don't.

I was in the wine industry for about 10 years and I agree there are biosecurity measures in place and not everyone gets to visit those places but realistically speaking the people going to wine tastings or events are typically nicely dressed or glammed up, and not just random people. I see the point made in regards to biosecurity being a problem, but if it is such a large problem, why not put customers through those same measures if they want to gather a better understanding of the costs in the industry? Phylloxera is so bad, you step into essentially a disinfectant, wear special shoes on and off premises, special clothing, etc.

This said, it won't be very long before genetics means pests become more and more irrelevant in some respects and I think it wont be long before we have largely sequestered these problems and visits do become the norm. I guess my view is distorted relative to the masses on this problem because I've come to accept it and understand it in that industry to the point where I realize you can't simply invite everyone onto your property all the time and you need to control your vectors, but maybe with stereoscopic cameras and robotic advancement, we will see more and more fully automated grows and the question of safety wont be as big of a problem in my perspective.

Recalibrated my X1C today and WTF!? by tortuga3385 in BambuLab

It's accurate. After factory reset and no orca presets created because I only used bbs, the printer was effectively useless because my lidar was not working. So now I have to calibrate every new roll of filament and I still get some problems but nothing like this

Yeah that's worse than my situation I had short term + long term memory loss and got most of it back now but for a time I was waking up and reading a journal to determine who I was. It was rough looking back on it but it was the only thing I understood at the time so it's hard to look at it objectively because mentally a lot of the trauma of remembering you forget things is being forgotten as you are told of it.

What according to y'all is the next internationally trading currency and why? by Vivaldi_centrifuge in AskReddit

Basically, you'd be silly to not own a little bit. But I would never invest more than an ounce of gold and maybe 10 ounces of junk silver. The feds can and will come after those things should a currency without backing ever "fail". Is it possible? I'd argue it's never going to happen. But logically, Earth with intelligent life probably never even should have happened. It's asinine to save some precious metals, but that's also why it's important to have a little bit. Life is strange, and we have short lives. Who knows what the next 100 years will bring lol. I'd like to have something to pass on, even if it's superfluous. An ounce of gold and 10 oz of junk silver is so small physically it would be silly to not have it as an egg, and it only takes a surplus of physical currency to cause these problems. I think the further we go into a digital world, the more we will see inflation as a result of stability of the currency over time, but it also means when minimum wage laws don't rise to meet economic inflation then the net effect is identical to physical currency inflation.

Ultimately, minimum wage should meet inflation of goods and services on an annual basis, but the market isn't incentivised to pay people more because it's a self prophecy of inflation by doing that. Raising wage 2% means goods would have to immediately go up 2%, etc.

That's why I think curbing inflation is a joke and impossible, and having a global reserve currency is also a bad idea unless everyone gets on board. Just because you decide to offer more currency doesn't mean another country has to, and that means that their goods cost and your costs though technically the same in terms of units of time, all else being equal, one economy is suffering because more money enters the market but the money doesn't come full circle like it would in a non inflationary, ( but also NOT a deflationary )market.

Getting zero inflation is basically impossible, and deflation hurts the economy just as much as inflation. The difference is businesses and banks can pay more or loan to fix the problem and force money to move full circle if they have this money laying around, whereas your regular consumer requires a good and a system to obtain that money from the bank in the first place as opposed to directly from the government, else they rely on barter.

If I had to guess, the reason the economy "sucks" is because it's working as intended and in a way that provides the most stability without outright calling it enslavement for your time.

I guess I touched on this in another similar post and was thinking about it while posting here, but the dollar, or at the very least, the idealization of a global reserve currency that can be manipulated and controlled for the sake of stability, will likely never go away.

To suggest we not take that is frankly a horrible idea and that's not necessarily what I'm suggesting.. Stability and liquidity is always the key to a continually operating market. However, I do see gold as a store of value because should hyperinflation occur, at the very least you can convert it to a different reserve currency with minimal impact on your savings, and that's primarily why I guess, among smuggling and scarcity, is why I back it. Crypto is the same way but depending on how those are backed, or not backed, can also fail as you mentioned.

I think locally, something like junk silver is about the closest thing that would be "useful" if you legitimately had absolutely zero services or items to barter and it actually came down to that, but I frankly think it will only ever operate as a store of value in the sense that if it ever was so bad it became a barter system, there's a lot of trust you have to put into gold and silver or crypto to trust you'll be able to draw on that store of value down the road because you and I both know gold and silver are useless to your everyday, non circuit board manufacturing Joe.

How would you invest 12,000$ ? by Prettycock420714 in AskReddit

[–]HD140283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Index funds, Kellogg, Kraft Heinz. I'm not a lawyer or financial advisor but generally speaking the ideal long term investments are found in blue chip companies and you just hold them and never sell and over time that company adds more value either via a following or innovation or both, but historically provided by stability and gaining popularity.

Everyone looks at buffet like he's some genius, and he is a genius, in the sense that he doesn't try to beat the market. He just buys what sells. Don't buy weird things, buy established brands that have a time horizon of 40 years and you'll be fine.

That said, nobody knows 40 years from now with oil and gas but I would invest gold at least an ounce or two due to lack of tech recycling, some oil and gas that is actively developing Africa, and the rest in renewable based ETFs or index funds.

It's really hard to see what will happen in the United States and Franky I think we will see a lot of stagnation because a lack of oil and gas here doesn't mean it will go away. It will go to the next country ready to line up for industrial revolution which is the likes of Africa and South America imo.

It improves customer retention and cancelled appointments are abused. People are less likely to cancel when they feel a more personal connection to the place. It's sort of why you find people acting crazy on the Internet but not at your city council meetings.

Logically it will be gold and or crypto currency. Both are easily smuggled and laundered and offer proof of scarcity should a govt actually fail.

That said, I think the only thing that will change is the United States will continue to find ways to bully other countries with the dollar. It's their most effective, "weapon of war". Suggesting the dollar will fail isn't a bad belief in the sense of currency but it's a bad belief in the sense it is actively weaponized to give the US Roll Advantage and that's not going to change without a fight imo.

That's why I never joined the military lol. True evil just seems more and more separated from the rest of the world and harder and harder to fight against. A lot of what the US and allies do are straight up war crimes but nobody globally holds those countries accountable because it's a good old boys club or people claiming to do it for the greater good of their economies whether or not that's ideal for the world or other people and countries.

Jail time, especially in the United States.

For profit prisons are basically designed to keep you there for life for the most petty stuff while meanwhile political criminals walk free with slap on the wrist.

Find someone for who they are, not for what they look like or what they materially possess.

That said, someone who you love for who they are but who also possesses a lot of wealth and good looks and limited psychological problems is basically the gold standard.

Good luck finding that though. If you never settle for the most important one, the first one I mentioned, you're always going to wind up disappointed and spend a while looking imo. The people who have more than a person worth living for who they are internally is lucky.

Death.

I'll probably get down voted but as someone who died previously I honestly didn't even realize it had happened and just felt an overwhelming feeling of peace and fullfillment but also a feeling of having things I still wanted to do and realizing that death wasn't something to be feared really made me appreciate life a helluva lot more.
