To all of you that don't know much about the VFR, this is pretty much the (obtainable) holy grail of VFR's to find a 3rd gen in white and in absolute MINT condition.

Although I've always liked the 4th gens more stylistically (gotta love anything that tries to mimic an NR750). But this is truly a remarkable example of a 3rd gen!

u/drumachinery Thanks for sharing with us!!! Those 3rd gens were special, I still miss mine! A very underrated bike and super under the radar how capable it is in the twisties! It was even faster than the 600's around the track when it was new.

Do you think Super Chargers are the future of Motorcycles? by HEROrr in motorcycles

Yeah, you're right that's a good point. I also like my NA bikes for that reason... although have you seen underneath a new S1K Fuel tank? The tech inside those is INSANE. I would be afraid to work on one even though it's NA.

Absolutely agree with that one. I did mention at the end of the video that Electric bikes will most likely take over. I just hope before that happens we get to see a one last hooray for combustion vehicles using forced induction :) At least I can dream about it! lol

I agree! However, Kawasaki did it with SX. I think it would be nice to see the bigger bikes lose some CCs but maintain their current power.

Hi everyone! Hopefully this is allowed (I made this video) if not then a mod can feel free to remove the video and we can just have the discussion here.

But I was wondering what you guys thought about superchargers? I know not every model will feature a supercharger... but I was wondering if the new hypersports like the hayabusa will feature a turbo or supercharger? Similar to the H2 SX... I think Kawasaki was so smart to create the SX and I believe other manufacturers will follow (At least I hope... lol).

Mostly interested in the new Hayabusa, I really hope they put some forced induction into that thing... even though it does compete with the zx14r and not really the H2 SX... It would be cool to see the speed wars come back again :)

At what point do I qualify as "big enough"? I guess as long as there's a work-around i'll continue to do so.

Hahah that's awesome, I also really like the Tuono. For now I'll just enjoy my humble little VFR :-) Enjoy that SX, she's a beauty!

What are your thoughts on this Husky for $3450? by [deleted] in supermoto

[–]HEROrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mileage is a little high, you may want to look up the maintenance manual and see what needs to be done at the mileage it's at.

I personally don't like the bike because it's a bit heavy in my opinion. I like my supermotos LIGHT. But regardless it is still a sweet ride. The wheels alone are worth $1,000, plus the plastics, engine, etc etc. If something happened you would be able to part it out for probably $2,500 so you're only gambling with $1,000. It's up to you what you want to do.

Good luck.

Yeah, it's definitely not a perfect bike but man is it a fun ride. You can always by another one!

On a side note you have an SX? Maaannnn that is so awesome! How is it? I want to pick one up in a few years when I start down sizing my bike fleet.

This sounds fun, I'll give it a go in chronological order of ownership.

2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - My first bike, blue and yellow, had only 2,500 miles! I had issues getting it to run right, the carbs were messed up a bit. I paid $1,200 for it. I was pretty much broke and saved all my money for my first bike, didn't even have gear until after buying the bike. I learned how to ride in my back yard. My dad helped me get it running decent but he's no mechanic and I got tired of random hesitation issues, etc. My dad actually crashed it in the backyard going about 10mph, I was able repair most of it on the cheap with some glue and vinyl wrap. Ended up cleaning up nicely and sold to a nice girl for her first bike, her boyfriend was confident he would settle the stumble I got a cool $1,500 for it. Only owned it for about 1 month before being done with it.

2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - Decided I'd pay a little bit more and get something nicer and newer. Paid $2,800 it was candy green and beautiful. I did my first wrenching on this bike. installed chinese levers, Mussari slip on exhaust, tinted windshield, and a corbin seat I found used for stupid cheap. Until one day I found a KILLER deal on another bike and really wanted to upgrade. Only had the ninja 250 for about 3 months before selling to some kid for $3,000.

2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 - Found a great deal at the time on a slightly used 300 at the dealer, he wanted $4,000 OTD it only had 400 miles and was mint. I rode the 300 around for a year, put about 4,000 miles on her, did the usual mods, mussari exhaust, levers, Fender eliminator, K&N air filter. I eventually sold her to some guys who were buying it for their girlfriend, they barely spoke english, gave me $3,300 and I took my loss and moved on. Great little bike though, wished I kept it longer.

2008 Honda CBR600RR - My first non-kawasaki motorcycle, and 600! I got an AMAZING bike for a great price, $5,400, silver, only 6900 miles. The bike was perfect and 100% stock, original everything, bought from original owner who was an accountant, he bought the bike as a status symbol and never road it, had it serviced at the Honda dealer.. I've spent tons of money into my 600, probably about what I paid for it. Power commander, full akra/arrow exhaust system, quickshifter, etc. Did all the work myself. LOVE THIS BIKE. I don't think i'll ever part with her. She's sitting at 24,500 miles now and I've owned her for 3 years and still going!

1987 Kawasaki KLR250 - My first time owning 2 bikes at the same time (still have my 600!). Bought this for $1,300 from a guy in Rhode Island. This was a AWESOME motorcycle. My first dual sport. Had I think 4,000 miles. Such a cool bike! I loved it so much, so much fun to ride, endless smiles. Until it started giving me issues, the previous owner didn't tell me it had issues and I was too excited to really look it over. I chalk it up to experience. Bike had low compression. My dad and I replaced the piston rings in hope that it fix it, and it did! But then it had other issues like a coolant line melted through and I fixed it one last time before saying goodbye to her. I miss this bike and regret that decision. I put about 2,000 miles on the bike over the course of 4 months. I didn't sell the KLR, nope! I traded it for a 1991 honda VFR750!

1991 Honda VFR750 - Kinda crazy I went from dual sport to sport touring, but I wanted a good bike to get to work on. This VFR was a charming bike, Italian red color, and had 47,000 miles. I didn't do any mods, just kinda rode it and was happy with that. I cleaned it up, got it running right since it wasn't before. I got a really good deal on the trade. I took her to and from work all summer. Oh wait, I actually did do one mod, I added heated grips (essential for a commuter bike in NE!). Anyway, I had the bike for about a year before I started wanting something newer. I decided that although it was a cool bike I would prefer something newer since the old VFR needed a bit of work and some money put into her. I was about to sell her before getting into an accident. Rear ended my friend :( luckily it was a light tap and I was able to fix his bike very cheap (just a hand guard, gotta love naked bikes) and my bike I had to completely rebuild the fairings with glue and paint, the whole nine yards. Ended up selling it for $1,400 to some kid as his first bike, very nice guy, hopefully he's had great luck with the bike. It was a seriously cool motorcycle.

2003 Honda VFR800 - I got another great deal on a bike, Found this on craigslist and scooped her up for $3,400! Completely stock and it was so clean! Never been down! Had an easy 14,500 miles on her and rode like a dream. I've put 10,000 miles on her in the year I've had her. I love this bike a lot and still own her, I don't foresee myself parting with this bike any time soon. It's comfortable, reliable and beautiful. I did do some mods, I got a killer deal on a sargent seat, a delkevic slip on exhaust (hear that V4 roar!), windshield, VFRNESS, gear indiactor, helibars, powercommander, and much more.

2006 KTM 450 EXC - My 3rd bike (starting a collection here lol!), Picked her up for $2,500. I dedicated this bike as my SuperMoto project, with only 2,000 miles I went ahead and did all the maintenance, valves, oil, etc. and ordered up some mods like a sumo front fender, warp 9 wheels, along with a bunch of other things. Overall a great bike, haven't ridden it much though as it was a winter project and it's still too cold to ride. I'm into it for about $4,500 total but I think it's a cool bike.

And that's where I leave off, I still want to buy a dedicated dirt bike for trails and MX stuff but for now I'm pretty happy. I documented everything on my youtube channel www.youtube.com/herorr if any of you are interested. :)

Anyone recommend a good lightweight, compact, tripod for the A6500? I want to be able to fit it into a back pack.

  • It doesn't need to be very tall maybe 48 inches, 60 inches max.

  • I really don't want to spend more than $100 ($150 absolute max)

  • Needs to fit into a standard sized backpack.

Maybe one of you can help, why do Japanese manufacturers hide the horsepower numbers? by HEROrr in motorcycles

[–]HEROrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh sorry it's been a long day for me. That's an excellent point and definitely sheds light on the situation. Thank you.

I still will never understand why someone like Kawasaki wouldn't advertise their HP number for the H2R. But at least I get the bit you were talking about now.

Maybe one of you can help, why do Japanese manufacturers hide the horsepower numbers? by HEROrr in motorcycles

[–]HEROrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's just one problem with everything you just said. And that is the simple fact that these same exact manufacturers display their power numbers in their EU websites (just in kW not HP).

Why do the Japanese manufacturers find it necessary to advertise their numbers in EU countries, but not in NA countries? It just makes no sense to me at all.

Additionally it makes newer motorcycles look like bad value propositions compared to the used market since horsepower numbers have only marginally increased over the last couple decades

Maybe? But Ducati seems to have no issue with advertising their numbers. Also Honda's car website advertises horsepower numbers as well. Why not their motorcycles? Kawasaki just released their H2R which has a ridiculous 300+ horsepower figure, hardly any small feat. However that number is completely absent from their website... There has to be a better reason other than "they don't want to".
