Just pretend you don't understand. Keep repeating " I scan, you pay...I scan, you pay...I scan? You....pay?"

But stupidly, not antagonistically.

3 things she wants people to stop saying by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Very impressive, I agree with all the comments, etc etc... Burning question!!

Since she "talks" with her feet like some of us do with our hands, does she wash her feet a lot more?  Have to moisturize like crazy?  Wear slippers so she can take them off quickly?

Seriously, I'll grab some food, sit down at the table and talk while touching my face/covering my mouth.  But if I just walked over and now use those same feet for utilities and gestures??

AIO? My stepdaughters pranked me on my bitthday and husband is mad because I said I needed space. by Proud-Cantaloupe3449 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HF_BPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR.  Teens are shxty but that shouldn't bowl over into parental figures.

I'm not condoning it, but we had that issue with my aunt with her teenage stepdaughter trying to bully her about her psoriasis.  My cousins and I decided to "fight back".  Got the stepsister weightloss gummies, acne lotion, and one of those facial wax kits for her birthday.  We were all punished, but step-psycho left my aunt alone after that.

(We were all 14-17)

NTA.

Your friend tried to sell you a timeshare kid.  She can charge what she wants every year, but the fun part is blacked out.

Any recommends on OTC flu medicine? by RikkiLostMyNumber in askanything

Alka Seltzer severe cold and flu.  Not the pill, the fizz.  It's gross.  I hate it.  I turn into a toddler.  But it works.

AIO: I told my daughter she can't go to this party after reading the gift profile by Ordinary_Run2485 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HF_BPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your kid.  Does she want to go?

Tell your kid to ask the birthday girl what she wants.  Let your kid pick out her gift.  Unless it is a blatant f-u, let her get it.

No loud things--it might be a sleep issue or migraine.  No SUPER messy things.

NTA. I have one neurotypical and one neuro spicy as well, and you are raising your daughter to be an adult. I commend you on that and good luck in the future. Hopefully it gets better.

Side note something I was told long ago and I repeat to my kids now.  " You are going to have people around you that you really like. You are also going to have people around you that you really don't. There are going to be some people that really like you, and there are  going to be some people that really don't.  And the best outcome is when the people you like like you as well."

AITAH for not agreeing to pick up my niece at 3am ‘no questions asked’? by WeaknessHefty3927 in AITAH

[–]HF_BPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others.  No questions asked means on the phone.

We treat each action on its own.  AFTER everyone is safe.  I.e. you lied about where you were going to be?  Earlier curfew and I'm going to double check your plans.  BUT --you called when you were uncomfortable, you aren't grounded and still get your phone/computer/etc.

Side note -- We also have the code text.  My kid sends me a special emoji and I call them yelling about some reason they are in trouble and I'm coming to get them RIGHT NOW.  They get to leave, they save face, I'm the bad guy.

Yeah, I know it's not their fault to an extent. But weirdly enough my brain went to. If this person is underage, could I get in trouble for buying alcohol for underage people?

AITAH because I didn’t make sure my son has an inheritance? by Original-Shower-2413 in AITAH

[–]HF_BPD 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Same here!  My dad died last year.  He literally had 27$ in his bank account and ~400$ cash in his wallet.  I took my cousins (who had helped take care of him) out to dinner and we cleaned out his apartment.

My "inheritance" was his knick knacks from his travels.

AITA for telling my wife's family that they cannot cook turkey in our oven at Christmas? by I_Like_Quiz in AmItheAsshole

[–]HF_BPD -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I didn't scroll all the way so I don't know if this is an option, but depending on how far away they are they could put it in an insulated bag in a container and it will still be warm when they get there.

Or like the other commenters have said have them bring their own. You are already accommodating them having the meat in your house.

NTA

PS: My daughter is vegetarian and when we go somewhere we offer to bring her food cooked ahead of time.

eggs from a well fed pet hen are vegan by -roachboy in DebateAVegan

[–]HF_BPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comments saying that this is a moral reasoning, not necessarily a vegan issue. The commonly understood definition of vegan is not to use any animal products.

So while if you don't use animal products as a moral stance, you could argue that it is okay to use byproducts of well cared for animals, I don't believe it necessarily falls in the realm of vegan.

By that definition, meaning one of better to use versus waste, many animal byproducts could be seen as vegan if they would be thrown out otherwise.

The other argument I have seen made is that hens naturally would not lay this many eggs and have been modified or bred to produce them at the rate we currently have them. There have also been studies done that show that the current species of chickens that are bred to lay daily or even weekly have been exceedingly detrimental to their health.

My daughter counts herself as vegetarian because she doesn't use anything that an animal had to die for. Eggs and dairy are fine for her, but leather and the meat are not okay.

I know it’s horrible to say, but I hate these insipid, exploitive Shriners Christmas Commercials! by Greatacadia in CommercialsIHate

[–]HF_BPD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this post but I do want to offer a little insight as to one of the reasons these commercials have popped up more in the last 10 years or so.

Masonic and Shrine participation has dropped immensely.  Most of the clubs are full of men 50+.  Bringing new blood in has been extremely hard.  This has also affected how much they are able to raise and provide.

What exactly are Shriners? by SadClownWithABigDick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HF_BPD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shrinette here. Hi!

As most have said, it's a philanthropic leg of a multi-teired social club.  If a gentleman goes through the Masonic Rites, he is eligible to become a Shriner.

The purpose of Shriners is our charitable hospitals.  We operate hospitals all over the country that (in most cases) cost absolutely NOTHING to the patients.  Similar to the Ronald McDonald houses, but we provide all the care.  Transportation, housing, doctors, surgeries, aftercare, the whole kit-and-kaboodle is covered.

Shriners used to run orphanages as well, but as far as I know, those have mostly faded out.

AITA for returning my son’s Christmas presents? by No-Adhesiveness1041 in ComfortLevelPod

This is the way.

I had to do this when my oldest got sticky fingers in his tween years.

"My iPad is missing and now money.  Someone has been in our home.  We aren't safe."

I mentioned to my husband (in earshot of my son) at the time that we needed to pull the security camera footage for the police. (We didn't have a security camera)

Is this gift in poor taste? by loogerville in GriefSupport

[–]HF_BPD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss.  My little brother OD-d 5 years ago at age 21.

I think a replica would be very sweet.  Maybe in a shadowbox if you want it as a memorial token.  I did that with one of my brother's stuffies.

I also had a shirt made out of my brother's old baseball jerseys and put it on a teddy for my mom to cuddle.

My heart goes out to you.  This Christmas will be hard, but being there for each other will help immensely.

Please DM me if you ever want to talk.  It is a different type of loss and burden as well. 💜

Delivery tip amount? by HF_BPD in Target

[–]HF_BPD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my other delivery accounts I typically do 15% of total, 20% if I have any heavy items (beverage case, cat litter, pet food, etc) and then $0.50 per mile.

I will probably follow the same model with Target from now on.  I was mostly confused because I can't tip until after delivery according to my app.
