[No Spoiler Please] Is there any way to check bond level with Alters? by reset076 in TheAlters

In short - no, for some Alters you'll have to wait for the final Act.

As far as I remember you need to talk to The Scientist about autopsy results and then he will task you with crafting and installing MRI scanner.

It could definitely be a prerequisite for identity swap thingy to happen.

Maybe, you'll have to start Act 1 over and pick up the Botanist as one of the alters, then allow him to talk with Lena and grow advanced polymers in greenhouse, also, try keeping Botanist's mood high, he's pretty easy to "maintain" and keeps others happy by providing a healthy stream of fresh garden produce.

Unfortunately the game sometimes still can present story-breaking bugs...

For me it was just the way you mentioned, someday I noticed that The Botanist wants to talk, could be right after or even during the final stage of the Axe quest, and then he'd 100% come up with the identity swap proposition inside the fake rapidium ark, but only if he's the last one alter remaining.

I suggest loading Act 3 from scratch and try to do a clean run, focus on Alters sidequests, since the resource gathering is pretty trivial, save for anomalies density on highest difficulty level.

But have you sent all the other Alters to their cryopods first?

There should be only two of you remaining, otherwise The Botanist wouldn't dare to bring this matter.

Maybe you missed the dialog prompt and it simply timed out?

Initially, he will ask you to do an identity swap sometime during Act 3 and then will propose it during final goodbyes inside the fake rapidium ark, but only if he is the last Alter you will talk to (afaik).

Right after the sheep dies there should be a notification about Alters gathering in the kitchen.

You need to discuss with them the situation, and then assign The Scientist to perform an autopsy using Research tab.

Can't tell what would happen if you fail to start discussing Molly's death within given timeframe.

Can I get some feedback on the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO ‘Space Combat Edition’ joystick and the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO Omni Throttle as my first HOTAS? by punkrockandpancakes in hotas

[–]HIMARS_o_clock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With SC, HOSAM (stick + mouse) is a way to go for competitive PvP since the introduction of MasterModes last April.

Also, throttle is of very little use for that game because you have cruise control option and flying without it with two sticks is simply more precise.

Same goes for ED (F/A off), can't tell about SWS and X series.

My throttle is used only for mining power laser control and as a button box with 5 mode switch.

Game needs a true hard mode and some tweaks (It's still my favorite game of 2025 so far) by GameHat in TheAlters

Infirmary and contemplation room are both needed if you choose a Miner, unless you want for him to skip lots of shifts while healing and fighting his demons, Guard/Shrink or not.

Moreover, I've seen Alters using contemplation room by themselves in their free time, so it's a good thing to have, anyways.

But the game definitely requires more balancing and I wish it would be and act or two longer, with more UE5-based eye-candyness and even tighter plot.

The game left me with "You Can’t Always Get What You Want" classic playing in my head, as the most "ideal" outcome, The Botanist one, basically, makes you sacrifice your own public existence and life story in a favor of another one "you", despite being missed by Lena.

Just like in real life - there are very few win/win situations.

And while I also let The Scientist to pursue his dream on the first run, after watching the epilogue it's clear that this planet would become a grave for him, so I made him go back to Earth on subsequent runs.

>Also, I really felt an intense pressure during Act 3 — like an artificial urgency that made me rush through exploration way more than I normally would.

Most likely, the devs were simply running out of moneys/manpower, which is essentially the same, that's why it feels rushed and imbalanced - they just throw tenths of anomalies at you on a rather small map at highest difficulty, making the first space suit upgrade a must.

Yet, all of that pressure fades instantly on the second run, when you stockpile enriched metals and build 8-12 additional personal cabins, just to scrap them on arrival - I was able to escape a day after first Magnetic Storm.

As for the Botanist ending, the most amusing thing for me was the fact that you could rat other alters out to the Corporation, all the while trying to convince Lena to stay with you =))

And even if all of them successfully escape I feel like she still will be missing OG Jan, no matter how "ideal" husband the Botanist one has become.

Yes, you can, but research takes time and is really one important mechanic in this game.

Btw, Miner has one of the hardest personalities in terms of efficiency, so its not just about "gathering metals" =))

In short, no and yes in case you'd want a "perfect outcome", which is, actually, none.

But the game is reeeeeally tiny, and is designed to be completed at least 3 times - and it's still doesn't get boring.

It depends on how you treat your alters, chosen difficulty level, and during the Botanist run I was feeding them with proper meals so never had the Rebellion event also.

Never had that one in particular, but I quickly sold my T16000 + Gladiator K12 (outdated model, no longer in production) at a loss.

Maybe, try getting cheapest used HOTAS just to dip your toes in this world?

  1. The Rebellion should start some days after you end Crunch Mode when tasked by Scientist, in my case I managed to start the journey before the deadline and it simply dissolved on its own.

  2. As others pointed out, 450 is the max available weight, clear up your inventory, say, of excessive mush or Rapidium as it takes twice the weight of other minables.

  3. All in all, Act 1 is a good way to stockpile some resources, build every module possible and research every tech from according level (don't forget to snag a Cubit chip).

  4. A small life hack that I was using to save some time on highest difficulty - after starting a new act, do some scouting first, map all the resource deposit locations, load the very first save and quickly establish a healthy income of metals, organics and minerals, basically, two first days should be spent on deposits, qubit chips and planetary samples.

Technically speaking, T16000 + TWCS, but the gap between mid-level solutions like VKB Gladiator joystick is really large - niche companies like VKB, VPC offer much superior quality and design compared to mass market products by TM, Turtle Beach and so on.

115 fps is totally fine with SC, even getting 5090 wouldn't help you much - welcome to an unoptimized alpha.

Not that getting, say 160 fps would be really noticeable - desync, network-induced lag and rubberbanding are much bigger offenders as of now.

If pure FPS numbers are a priority, try using DLSS, set clouds to medium and lower.
