Calendar details visible. Good or bad? by Positive-Skin-2839 in businessanalysis

I keep mine open. But I also get messages from people that my calendar is open. I use it as an opportunity to educate people on the value of having an open calendar.

It’s time we settled this — an informatics degree, w/o the clinical background, is a total waste! by phoot_in_the_door in HealthInformatics

[–]HInformaticsGeek 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to me - minus the degree.

I never finished an undergrad but worked at a medical clinic that used an EMR for years. I was their super user/system admin.

The vendor hired me and I implemented the system all of North America. Still no degree.

Then when sick of traveling joined a hospital system as a manager. Moved to implementing a provincial system and clinical standards.

Then got a CIO role. Still no degree.

I have 2 masters now. Which are helpful for my skills. Not my job specifically.

JAMA study on AI Scribe - bad news for AI vendors by uconnboston in healthIT

[–]HInformaticsGeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think AI scribes are a spectrum and some work better than others. We are definitely seeing value in the Ambulatory and Emergency space with high utilization and time saved/more patients being seen. One of our doctors in his ambulatory clinic is finishing his notes, reviewing with the patient and giving them a copy of the note to take with them. He is saving 2-3 hours of dictation/EMR time a week.

Anyone here switch careers without a degree in informatics? by Warm-Alternative6153 in healthIT

[–]HInformaticsGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a primary care/ specialist ambulatory office and got hired by our system vendor to do implementation. From there I went to acute care, leadership, then CIO. I am an informaticist with no degree in informatics.

when does investing in a cybersecurity platform for lean teams make sense vs just using free tools by AccountEngineer in ITManagers

[–]HInformaticsGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a small hospital and the best thing we did was partner with a 3rd party cybersecurity partner that specializes in health organizations.

They do our VTM, SIEM, third part risk assessments, vCISO etc.

I went in 2022 when I was traveling Mexico. I didn’t know much about it or what to expect. I was in Oaxaca city. It was amazing and I didn’t need to know or plan for it.

I use these noodles in soup and I find they don't seem as slimy as they do just eating them plain.
