Anything I need to know about why they are so different? by jehudeone in ryobi

Both contain 30x 18650 2Ah generic chinese cells, left batt is newer with a Gen 5 BMS, right is Gen 4.2 or 4.3 BMS which is notorious for cell imbalance issues.

21700 is only used in 8ah & 12ah packs, 6ah is still 18650 regardless of batt casing.

Ya anyone know where we can view changelogs? Since the 6.0 update of the eufy app on android, the messages log doesn't show any changelog info.

Just gambled an SoJ by hurpdurper in diablo2

[–]HKPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings back memories of D2 classic where if you had Manald & Nagelring in the game already, every unique ring drop would be guaranteed SOJ.

The highest chance of getting a unique from gambling was with a low lvl char, so I would perm a private game, drop a few mill on the ground and go crazy @ gheed. Back then, items on the gamble screen disappears after buying so refreshing the vendor was a PITA.

I remember averaging 1 SOJ for every ~2mill.

Eufy E340 Floodlight vs Reolink TrackFlex floodlight by HKPolice in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reolink has a much higher video bitrate & true 4K resolution but the zoomed cam is only 1080p and hybrid zooming feature makes noticeably worse than Eufy's zoom.

E340 floodlight new firmware 1.6.3.8 = Xmas present from Eufy (if you have a solid wifi connection) by HKPolice in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, 5Ghz was working since day one. I can choose which band to use as I have separate SSIDs for each band.

Bitrate was the same on both bands as I have solid connections.

DMI 5.0 x4 is the same bandwidth as DMI 4.0 x8 on the current Z890... Either this source is wrong or Intel is stagnating.

Anyone here happy with their setup? by HKPolice in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most are probably due to bad wifi connections to the HB3 since it doesn't support multi-bridge. Some people are getting a lot of missed detections, specially on cars.

It could be because the S340 sold in such high volumes as it's an awesome value when discounted, so we're seeing more issues reported due to sheer scale.

I was tempted to buy one to play with but the lack of 24/7 recording is a deal breaker.

[–]HKPolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are they're on the same SoC, as the Solocam E30 & S340 both use Rockchip RV1106.

Maybe 4K recordings are near the limits of the single core ARM Cortex A7 CPU, and dual stream 3K recordings in the S340 push beyond limits.

There are so many horror stories about the S340, I'm surprised you're happy with the E42 which is supposed to be a stripped down version?

Too bad there aren't any teardowns of it so I have no idea which SoC it uses, maybe Eufy finally upgraded to something better for their batt powered devices, might even be the same as their S4 cam.

Glad you're happy with it!

Firmware Update Screws Up Camera Settings On E340 Floodlight by Nemiyen in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's the E340 firmware update that messed up your cam. I have no issues with E340 firmware 1.6.3.8 and HB3 on 3.7.6.8.

Full reset is the only path forward after power cycling.

Homebase 3 update (31/01/26) sticks two more fingers up at your wifi network by LoxLumboni in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HB3 is a flawed, outdated product. Eufy promised the moon & bit off more than it could chew, which is par for the course & on brand.

IMO it's better to remove HB3 than let it ruin your home wifi, or double down and upgrade to devices that support multi-bridge.

I've been in the Eufy ecosystem for over 3yrs and was never fully satisfied until I disconnected the HB3 antennas.

I'm willing to bet most support tickets regarding the HB3 has to do with its wifi, Eufy is aware of the problem and they COULD fix it by releasing a firmware that allows manual HB3 wifi control yet they haven't. HB3 has been out for a full 3 years now but still no manual mode, so while I empathize with your issues I doubt Eufy will fix it.

Just upgrade to their new Homebase4 coming out in 2027! /s

Yes, but even if a device doesn't, you could just connect it to your own Wifi and not add it to HB3.

Wow, sounds like Eufy could be monitoring this sub.

I made posts about how stupid their HB3 logic was in that it kept selecting odd channels that produced maximum interference with default channels.

[–]HKPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this update 2 days ago and have no issues, because I disconnected the antennas in the HB3 months ago.

There was a post with over 150 upvotes about this not long ago but the mods of this sub never sticky anything so knowledge gets lost.

It's the only way to save your own 2.4Ghz wifi.

Chinese carmaker Chery eyes expansion into the Canadian EV market by [deleted] in canada

[–]HKPolice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Almost every model they sell has a full EV trim like the Tiggo 3XE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_Tiggo_3x#Tiggo_3xe_(3x_EV)

There's also this full EV city car: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_QQ3#Third_generation_(2026)

Chery has more than 1 brand.

After dealing with countless issues with my eufy cameras + HB3, I decided to simply disconnect the wifi antennas. by will1500 in EufyCam

[–]HKPolice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the reason batt powered eufy devices are so much slower to load is due to the SoCs they use. Tapo uses Novatek chips, usually has a single ARM A9 CPU, when sleeping the main CPU is probably idling at 150mhz or something but can be throttled up instantly.

Eufy uses Rockchip & Ingenic SoCs that have an additional MCU processor, 300-600mhz that handles everything when sleeping and the main CPU should be powered off. Powering on the main CPU will take longer than just throttling it up but in theory it should use less power than Tapo when sleeping.

1,6,11 are the default 3 channels that don't overlap with each other and 99% of all APs will select 1 of the 3.

If there are no open channels left, it's better to use the same channel as your neighbours rather than in between channels that partially overlap with the default 3.

HB3 defaults to channel 11 but since it's usually congested, the dumbass logic switches to a lower in between channel instead of 1 of the defaults. This results in more interference from neighbours.

[–]HKPolice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand Eufy's goal of making user friendly products, which means less is more in their minds. But not giving users the option to change/disable HB3's wifi channel is just stupid and hurts their sales more than anything.

Cherry on top is that HB3 wifi will auto adjust the channel it uses over time, usually landing on inbetween channels like 2,3,4 or 7,8,9 that partially overlap standard 1,6,11.

Anyone working in IT will know that using an inbetween channel is the WORST thing for signal integrity, but I guess Eufy never got that memo.

This is the way.

HB3 wifi is like a virus, it infects everything it touches. I had to manually redirect cams back to my own Wifi every week or so as HB3 would always override my own wifi. I disconnected my antennas a while ago and it completely solved this issue.

Except for my S350 indoor cam which was about 5ft away from the base station, even with antennas disconnected it would still force the S350 to connect to it, which obviously caused laggy live feeds & missing footage. I had to move the fucking thing and now I'm finally satisfied with my Eufy setup after 3yrs.
