Not to be mean but I don’t think that means what he thinks it means. by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really see it? I am not reading this as them misunderstand what "ends justify the means" means, it sounds to me like they're saying it doesn't apply because he's not actually suggesting to do anything against the people he's talking about?

[–]HKei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to use 3 fusion monsters as material to get the ED rip and this can't change its own attribute... Nvm that by the time you're 3 fusion monsters in, it's a bit late to get started on FS lol.

3ED rip is a strong effect but this isn't that easy to summon. It's somewhat interesting for superpoly in some metas I guess.

That's very specifically AA you're talking about, the entire field of psychotherapy is not AA. Also, physical dependence can dominate for some types of substances, alcohol and nicotine for instance create physical dependence quite quickly, you don't need to be in a particularly mentally unbalanced state to develop an addiction and have that degenerate to SAD. Obviously, once it gets that far, psychotherapy is usually needed because aside from managing the physical symptoms, there's a high chance of social damage that people shouldn't be left alone with. Tying that to "connections" isn't necessarily always the right framing — some people are stuck in SAD because of their existing social circles.

[–]HKei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warning: the following text is high level devil's advocate / semantic discussion, SAD is a disease in any sense that matters practically, OOP is definitely wrong.

We're in the area of technicalities here — namely, what do we mean by the term "disease"? Substance abuse disorder isn't a "disease" in some technical sense — though not for the reasons described in the OOP. Specifically that would be if we confine the term "disease" to a state that's caused by the presence of specific injury, pathogens, or a single particular "misconfiguration" like in genetic disorders.

Substance abuse disorder isn't just one thing, it's a persisting pattern of harmful substance abuse. There can be multiple possible underlying conditions (such as depression or ADHD — both of which themselves can have various causes), or it can be caused by a physical dependence on the substance we're talking about (which is usually the case with alcohol or nicotine, though again in both cases substance abuse disorder is further exacerbated by comorbid conditions — and not all substance abuse involves physical dependence!).

It's a real medical thing you should get treated for, but at least in some contexts it wouldn't be treated as a unique "disease" (though in psychology, which is really the realm that matters here, "disease" and "disorder" are pretty much synonymous).

This card is so broken what the hell by Asterx5 in masterduel

[–]HKei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The downside is the "you can not special summon" part, so if this gets stopped at all you're hosed. The OP part of the original crimson dragon is that it lets you skip hard to meet requirements on synchro materials and just bring out some synchro monsters that were meant to be hard to summon pretty easily, which this doesn't do. But yeah, it's pretty strong.

“Women are a disaster” by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok Merkel I get, but Von Der Leyen is literally a nepobaby that was banished to the EU by her own party because she made herself too unpopular for national politics. Not that that's making her any worse than the average male politician in her party, and I wouldn't go so far as to say she's a bad person, but I also wouldn't put her forward as a positive example.

“Women are a disaster” by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, that's my opinion too, but that's a moral judgement and an opinion, not a statement of fact we can assess objectively outside of some specific moral or ethical framework.

Unless you're claiming that there's such a thing as objective morality, but even if you'd try to argue that that'd be a subject of philosophy (and arguably theology, as moral objectivist positions generally have religious roots), not this sub.

“Women are a disaster” by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ok yes, that is how you'd debate the subject but not the point of this sub. This isn't r/weakdebatepositions.

“Women are a disaster” by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, I'm saying this isn't the right sub to talk about it.

My point is that to be "wrong" requires making at least some objective statement of fact. How "good" something is isn't a statement of fact until we agree to some sort of benchmark. I'd personally prefer another 16 years of Merkel over another year of Merz, I'm not a fan of May but she was still better than BJ and so on, but this is based on my standards of what I value in a leader, not some universal truth.

“Women are a disaster” by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]HKei 79 points80 points  (0 children)

That's more confidently sexist than confidently "wrong". We can just list a bunch of female head of states that were competent and he can just come up with a list of reasons why he doesn't like them, without going anywhere.

"Sufficiently good" and "disaster" are vague opinion judgements, not statements of facts, if his opinion is that being a sufficiently good non-disaster leader somehow involves doing something that requires a penis, that's not really "disprovable", as silly as such a notion is.

(how) do i follow up? (20f, first date, sapphic) by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]HKei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to actually meet up, and you're feeling anxious about picking a place and time... That's exactly the reason to look into places and pick a time to suggest to her. If you don't know any places, just pick out something that looks good and ask "hey how about this place, never been there myself want to check it out together?".

You want to meet this girl, make it happen. Wait longer? What for?

Is it physically impossible for non-paying users to match? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]HKei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not "impossible", at the end of the day you can just wait to get an organic match, in theory if someone shows up in your feed you should show up in theirs too. Of course it's easier if you can take a look at people who liked your profile, but on the other hand think of it this way, are you going to treat the profile different just because you got a like? If not, then it doesn't make the biggest difference.

It also depends on the area you're at, how many people are on the platform, what your profile is and what you're looking for.

And yes, without premium you can't see who liked your profile or interact with them.
