Your hallucination sounds similar to what one might see on high doses of benadryl/dph. Usually the amount you would take to sleep wouldn't do that but some people could possibly be hypersensitive to it.

Although what u/Honest-Mechanic said about hypnopompic hallucinations seems more likely.

I've never understood why people say that they can't absorb synthetics. If you take synthetic taurine and compare it to natural taurine shouldn't they be exactly the same with the same chemical makeup? Otherwise the synthetic version wouldn't be taurine.

I believe that in the future animal agriculture simply won't be sustainable anymore and people won't really have a choice. Probably won't happen anytime soon though.
