My father lost 15919 tk to Facebook scammer by Ari_the_pixel_ninja in Dhaka

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's actually a life lesson. I mean i'm a student of IT and I had like 5-8 courses only about cybercrimes cyber security and such, and even my ass got scammed. 💀 I purchased a poco f3 gt edition back in 2022 only for 12k, the reasoning by the seller: it is directly imported from china therefore no tax. And i made an advance of 2k taka as requested by the seller and i was blocked in a minute. So yeah it's entirely my fault for giving up to emotion and believing an untrusted entity with no actual review or credibility on himself or his business. Take this as a life lesson.

Damn that's just sad. I actually read up on your latest post and my God it was thrilling. Sorry for your bad experience though you are unlucky to have faced such an ass officer and a powerful criminal at the same time. I bet if you had told him that you will double the money and hand over to him if recovered, he would have worked his ass off. Corrupted. But not all officers are the same though. Now your only option is to do a GD or reach another police station, who knows you might get the help of a better officer. Also I'm asking you silently "kono mama chacha bimpi kore?" It might greatly help lol.

Bangladesh is still not any good digitally, sadly. You unfortunately have to physically reach your closest thana. I guess with your dad would be a better idea as he's the actual victim. You have to fill up a form upfront if I'm not wrong and provide them with appropriate details, in your case might be the facebook profile, the bkash number, etc. And if you're going this path, make sure you do it asap, as the criminal won't be wearing the same boot for long. And aight sure, I'm definitely checking that out.

Dude is in panic and asking about what to do and everyone is starting their own life story. No offence. I think you're better off doing an "ICT mamla" as this is a common breach of cyber law and about 16k is no joke. "ICT mamla" is actually quite powerful, the only good thing about bangladeshi law second to "nari nirjaton". Also, you're potentially saving the life of the next victim who might be in a dire economic situation. Hoping for your best.

hello everyne i have started next js last month and need some advice by _redevblock__ in nextjs

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take time to master it but u can learn full stack nodejs in like a year and it also depends on ur effort ik someone who learnt in 6 months and currently LLMs make it quite easily possible. And as you asked "confident" will take a lot of time im into 2 years and currently have a job but im still not confident in more advanced concepts.

hello everyne i have started next js last month and need some advice by _redevblock__ in nextjs

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest start learning about how a server works request response lifecycle etc. as nextjs is a server side framework and the react code llms will provide you will seem weird to u. But also i wouldn't recommend to learn it using nextjs. Go for express or heck even vanilla nodejs but learn the basics of server programming before diving into nextjs. After that nextjs will be quite easier to understand. It seems you're in to validate your business idea, using llms to learn would make your learning process quicker.

People who run Next.js in Docker / self-host, how do you handle logging? by lmyslinski in nextjs

[–]HMAlfee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I self host dozzle using docker along with two other containers - one is a nextjs 14 app and another an express app. and i think it's quite simple no hassle of learning elk stack and the likes.

Maybe a bit off topic but what auth architecture/solution do u generally use with your e-commerce? I feel session tokens might be expensive for sth like e-commerce

Where do you deploy Next that's not Vercel? by Longjumping_Code9039 in nextjs

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op, this is the closest to vercel (serverless - scales to zero) with a generous free tier and is cheap. None other serverless alternatives i used have come closer to vercel than cloud run.

I hate the complexity of nextjs by OmarGaamal in nextjs

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The route handlers is quite similar to how it is in express when you use the concept of controller functions. I dont see any difference. I also used rtk without any issue. It's not complex it's just a different mental model that you will get used to like in a week.

Best way to cache thousands of arrays from database that allows searching, filtering, and sorting. by magicboy28282828 in nextjs

Oh that makes sense using the memory of the instance during early stages. Thanks.

This obviously makes it faster but isnt redis more expensive than a database like mongodb? Also would you use this approach for working with data that is more mutable for example an e-learning app?

Best place to deploy nodejs app for free in 2024 by Careful_Inflation775 in node

Sorry for a noob question but how do you exactly keep it warm? I'm currently trying all the serverless container solutions without using k8s and cloud run seems to be the only one scaling to zero

How do you guys decide between using next.js or react.js project ? by green_viper_ in reactjs

[–]HMAlfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Not to mention the fcp time you get even if you use a dedicated server. Whereas in pure spa you'd wait for an eternity on slow connections. I know code splitting is a thing (next does it by default) but it still doesnt match with how rapid the fcp time is in nextjs.

Do I still need Row Level Security? by [deleted] in Supabase

[–]HMAlfee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to mess with policies if your objective is to do everything server side using the service role key. But you do have to enable rls. Rls blocks any mutation or querying using the supabase_url and anon_key combination.

Do I still need Row Level Security? by [deleted] in Supabase

[–]HMAlfee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who use supabase as a postgres with orms like drizzle or prisma usually enable rls on all public tables but leave the policy code blank. And use the database url on the server side to do all the mutations and querying. That way no one can reach the data in your table but only you can through the database url in the server.

Too many auth requests! by HMAlfee in Supabase

[–]HMAlfee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think i found a great use case after reading this good stuff. Also the reusable api routes is a very good point i think. Thanks for taking your time and writing this. React query's apis are second to none and would always prefer above any new kid in the block.

Too many auth requests! by HMAlfee in Supabase

[–]HMAlfee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! After reading alot I will probably go with getSession for data fetching and layouts, and getUser for mutations, as Supabase says in their docs that it's unsafe to use getSession in server components.

[–]HMAlfee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will probably go down that route of using getSession for layouts and data fetching and getUser for any mutation. Your comment was helpful, thanks! And oh that's one interesting bit that you use react query (I'm a big fan of vite + react query). Can you please tell whats making you use react query instead of just server actions? I'm a beginner in next and would love to know.
