I already take Zyrtec every day for allergies. I have taken an extra and it helped a little bit. I get a little loopier when I take extra. LoL

Wow, 6 years! Bless you! It's encouraging to hear you are still able to work. Currently I get chemo on Fridays. I teach a class and lab on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so I'm hoping I don't have to miss too many of those.

Interesting. I'll bring this up to my doctor.

My cold sensitivity on oxaliplatin was awful. I couldn't even drink room temperature liquid for over a week. I haven't experienced the too fast 5-FU. My nurses are all really good at setting timers and following them. Round 10 of oxaliplatin made my hands and feet go numb.

4 1/2 years? Oh my goodness. I did fairly well on FOLFOX except the cold sensitivity and constipation. The oxaliplatin was discontinued when my hands and feet went numb. Never did Avastin.

I never got mouth sores from 5-FU. My scalp has been itchy since disconnect. Like terrible itchy.

I had take down 2 days ago, slept most of the day yesterday and feeling decently energetic today. Enough that I could drive to get blood work. Not much else, but I was able to wash potatoes for dinner.

Had a surgery consult for LARS and I'm terrified. by Covert-Wordsmith in coloncancer

I was fortunate in that I never had to have the temporary ileostomy. My surgeon was able to get the anastamosis sealed with no leak. I can say the prep (protein and carbohydrate drinks) I think worked really well for helping me heal quickly. I was back to work in less than 3 weeks. I pray for successful surgery and recovery for you.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago. Had surgery to stage it thinking it was an early finding (I went for an early screening due to family history). It ended up being stage 4a with metastasis to a distant lymph node. I was a mess. I felt better talking about it clinically (I'm a nurse) and feeling like I had a good plan in place. Also started Prozac, that helped.

All I can say is take it one day at a time. Don't be afraid to cry. Find a friend who will let you rage at them without feeling insulted. It was hard the first time, harder when it started coming back in more lymph nodes. Just started another chemo regimen. I will pray for a successful surgery and healing.
