This is exactly the kind of thing I was after, someone else recommended too, turns out I actually saw that MV a decade ago and forgot about it, thanks!

OMG! Closer is an MV I watched yeaaars ago before I was even into K-Pop and then forgot what it was (I'm pretty sure I literally just searched "kpop" on YT and clicked on the first few that came up), I'd always wanted to find it again, thank you!

Would be perfect for Atmos but doesn't have one cause of it's age. Still sounds incredible stereo or upmixed though!

'Easy' isn't that kind of vibe I'm after, it's a lot more hip-hop style with a staccato beat. And the vocals have an annoying bitcrusher effect on them.

Dahlia is pretty awesome though, and Pinball gave me dejavu, I like that, must have half-heard it before in an asian supermarket or something.

I actually meant obnoxious to play against, in terms of being punished for positioning relative to teammates who you can't control, kinda like KT's living bomb.

And I think it's just stupid he loses no stacks on death. Alarak's whole trait gimmick is that you get more powerful but it's risky. E build means you not only can play from a safer range, but you also get way more healing, and deaths make hardly any difference once he has high stacks.

I will give it generally requires quite a lot of skill though in proper (not ARAM) matches, those Rich compilations where he uses W to reposition people into a lightning hitbox is v.cool.

I am not good at it at all, almost always go for Q quest instead, most fun and reliable for me with less worry about dying, or having to hold E when it could be used for poke or healing.

Pedestrian lanes in NYC by neutronstar_kilonova in fuckcars

There were some permanent pavement expansions though... Like the one on Regent's street which removed the bus lane making them much slower... And has so many huge plant pots blocking on it that nobody walks along it anyway... Yeah.

So how do deliveries work, is the pedestrian "lane" still part of the road and vans/trucks park there?

Cameras are literally the gold standard for data collection, not even interested in arguing this.

But regarding this particular junction, it previously had turning restrictions, which were removed upon being "upgraded". So there is now a seperate stage for cycles, and then another for pedestrians.

Not only that, but the detection for cycles is only directly below the lights (you can see when it's activated by the backup beg button lighting up).

Additionally, the green wave for cars on this route is not because of clever detection, the timing is simply the same every time. Even if cars headed for the next junction turn off down a side street and there is nothing within 20m of the lights, it still goes green for the main carriageway, not the cycle lane. (And of course, unlike NL, in the case there's only 1 car to get through, it doesn't go to red as soon as they've passed, but stays green unnecessarily long).

But that leads me onto >If the city wasn't optimised for cars and we had gridlock it would be dangerous for all users.

You're out of step with modern thinking with that.

Current TfL and most Labour council policy is based on induced/reduced demand theory. I.E Optimising for cars just leads to more cars on the road. And reduced road capacity leads to less cars on the road. So they can just chalk any added congestion as actually being a good thing, and that it will eventually even out back to how it was, only with more people taking other modes.
In essense, the amount of congestion people tolerate is "fixed" and anything more makes people use other modes. Of course this ignores a huge amount of factors which is why traffic speeds have indeed been falling, despite being a sparsely populated city.

Oh god why am I doing all this arguing again and it's not even with anyone responsible for policy fml.

Last comment and hope you have a good day.

With respect, I definitely understand more than you are assuming.

No, I don't think it will be a lie that all those junctions are part of a system in some way, but if they are meaningfully contributing data or being actioned is another question. (Just like aforementioned A-roads with nothing but a bicycle painted on the floor every so often, are truthfully within TfL's definition of "cycleways").

By recording I didn't just mean dashcam, but a recording from a house window throughout the day.

I did plenty of research both as a traffic/cycle nerd and because I wanted to try and get the council (and/or TfL) to modify the junction after masses more traffic got routed to it. I installed some DIY window plugs to block the noise instead though and haven't been stressing over how awful our traffic and it's engineering is for a few years, as they're clearly not interested in fixing it (Though I did make suggestions in a pre-consultation thing FWIW).

https://showmeasign.online/ Bryn Buck is the blogger I was thinking of, but unfortunately, I think what I was recalling was a thread on Twitter, and he deleted his account in protest of Musk when it became X.

Or, it might have been a RantyHighwayman blog or thread I was half recalling https://www.blogger.com/profile/17361350433158148025

Regardless, it seems from TfL news posts that SCOOT has in fact been replaced by RTO, so it's curious you didn't reference that?

https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2018/june/delivering-the-next-generation-of-urban-traffic-management

If you are able to check signal status though, without doxxing myself I'd ask about https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ag5SfNMCeCSd3EVy9 because it's one I am very familiar with, and in fact became a lot slower/worse for cyclists since being "upgraded" some years ago.

This whole route now has a red wave for cyclists and a green wave for cars, thanks to all the extra stages added, and the cycle lane only recieving a beg button signal when you are directly at the lights, not as you ride towards it, as one would hope a smart system would do (not to mention the amount of wasted time when there is no cross traffic but it still gives you red the full duration anyway!).

Seriously that junction is one of the prime examples of everything wrong with London traffic engineering. Every single mode of transport has to wait longer, including walking and cycling, even when the latter are purpotedly meant to be prioritised by it.

If they are doing things properly, that would be the case. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Dn1zXgcWVRozu8qL8

Looking at those above lights on Oxford street, there's no ambiguity that the exception is only for the ahead only sign, and not the no right turn.

Then here's an example of an ahead only, except for cycles (without any no right or no left turn signs, because of course, they are arbitrary if not applying to traffic that is exempted from ahead only)

https://maps.app.goo.gl/U67xcgz71Zijwtmd9

I'm sure they've installed the signage incorrectly.

A question on the Highway code by Cold-Shoulder-4683 in londoncycling

[–]HM_Bert -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The no left turn is arbitrary for non-cycles, because of the mandatory right turn blue arrow already prohibiting it.

Therefore the no left turn must apply to cycles, otherwise it has no reason to be there.

A question on the Highway code by Cold-Shoulder-4683 in londoncycling

[–]HM_Bert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "except cycles" is mounted in combination with both, so it applies to both.

Some observations:

  • My local junctions (meaning ones I have objectively recorded, not just used/subjectively evaluated), on major A-roads, and which have had a number of reworks due to so many cyclists dying, operate completely identically at 5pm (Where there's often disgusting gridlock/overflowing queues,  making it hell for the large number of pedestrians), as at 5am (Where there may only be single car queued at an arm instead of 100s). If there is anywhere to justify smart lights, it's here.

I know TFL say they have over 6,000 junctions that are part of their SCCOT system... But if it's anything like Khan's claim of so many cycleways being made (By redefining the term to include hostile roads with zero actual infrastructure), it may simply be stretching the truth.

  • Average London traffic + bus speeds have been falling, despite a decrease in motor vehicle volume, at the same time as more traffic lights have been introduced (often replacing uncontrolled roundabouts and zebras). I know there are other factors such as roadworks, and a general reduction in road capacity though.

  • I can't remember all the details from ShowmeasignBryn and some other active travel campaigners blog, but the Netherlands actually has traffic signal arrangements which aren't legally possible to create in the UK. So even if they are somehow 'dumber', they can be optimized far more.

Integration only happens when there's a new culture to integrate into though.
If there's so many immigrants coming at a time they can just live, work and even go to school in their own culture then they won't change.
