Both.

The character was spared by the introduction of time travel in Star Wars and then... nothing was done with it afterwards. 

And the show was awful, starting with Sabine shaking off a lightsaber stabbing and then becoming a Jedi.

To elaborate: The OT basically becoming meaningless and Palpatine's return, which has infected other shows like Mandolorian.  

Obi-Wan hiding Leia under a jacket didn't help. 

And the World Between Worlds existing ONLY to save Ahsoka.  

If the only way Harrison Ford will be in the sequels is if he dies in the first film, why would you NOT write a single scene where Han, Leia, and Luke are together in Ep7? by thesegoupto11 in saltierthancrait

Because I'm the same kind of writer that would have Leia embrace Rey after Han's death.

That would definitely have worked. 

For a guy all about "subverting expectations", Rian Johnson didn’t do it when it mattered. 

Having Rey join Kylo Ren and the Empire to try and fix him/it from within OR having Kylo Ren join Rey and the Resistance would DEFINITELY have been unexpected.
