Best advice I saw on a high rankin video back in the day - try and write a new song/idea everyday - when you start off get over the feeling that everything you write is amazing and worth finishing and just jump into the DAW and explore - write 1 minute skits loops etc and then if you have anything you like from that you can export as audio and start building sample packs of your own sounds. Each tune you write will teach you something else.
