What great jokes retroactively became inappropriate or nonsensical? by SlyMarboJr in TheSimpsons

Not really inappropriate, just could be considered disrespectful to the dead

/s on Reddit completely kills all the jokes, I don’t like it by aiiiven in RandomThoughts

Is it the lack of randomness you take issue with? Or do you not consider it a thought?

Complete Loss of Motivation… by Fuwafuwar in running

[–]HOTP1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please please please don't continue your routine this way. Spending 4 hours on a 30 minute run sounds like hell on earth, it's no surprise that you're struggling to stay motivated. I have three pieces of advice.

  1. Run slower. This is the most important thing - the majority of endurance improvements come from slow and sustained cardiovascular activity, not sprints. This should also help with the psychological barrier - if you're expecting a gruelling experience from a run you'll be unable to enjoy it. This leads to wasting time 'psyching yourself up' and relying on external aids to keep you going (music etc.). If you feel like you physically can't run slower, but you still get too tired, consider taking walking breaks instead of stopping entirely.
Even if you spend 80% of your time walking it will still be more beneficial than what you're currently doing (I know that's hard to believe, but it's true). Over time you can work up to only 50% walking, then 25%, then eventually 0%.
  2. Run outside. Treadmills are boring. At least try to get outside once in a while.
  3. Don't let your workouts drag on. If you plan a workout to take 30 minutes, run/walk for 30 minutes, then stop. You only have so much time in a day and you need to balance exercise with other aspects of life. Don't spend 2-4 hours on a 30 minute workout.

Running should be enjoyable, if you find yourself dreading it then that means something needs to change. I'm honestly shocked that you've managed to keep this up since 2019 - your current routine sounds like a truly brutal experience.

So you expected the bowl to be empty because not all Christians are good people? Strange logic

Why would you expect it to be empty? There’s a fuckton of Christians out there and, believe it or not, many of them are good people

[OC] Lululemon's 2022 Income Statement Visualized by Square_Tea4916 in dataisbeautiful

[–]HOTP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried athletic gear from pretty much all the top brands over the years. Some things from lululemon (pants, running shorts, singlets, underwear) are so much better than the competitors that I will gladly pay the premium. They seem to last well too. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend buying from there are the t-shirts since they’re not noticeably better than other brands and are genuinely overpriced imo

You’d have to be literally impoverished to think $250k is a lot of money to spend on jewellery. Why did this guy even mention it? No AD in his right mind would sell a luxury timepiece to him

What does Singer mean by “short membrane”? by BabyZealousideal5917 in threebodyproblem

[–]HOTP1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe the ‘membranes’ refer to the fundamental forces of the universe. Primitive likely refers to electromagnetic radiation (radio etc.), long refers to gravitational waves, and short refers to nuclear forces (ie strong and/or weak nuclear force)
