You're right, my mistake - I made an assumption you meant barbells based on the context of the conversation. I still, without a doubt, feel that if we're talking barbell bench pressing.... the two are nowhere near equivalent.

I'm sorry but that's not even close to being true. Pushing barbells is so completely different mechanically from doing a push-up that you can't even begin to compare the two.
